I want these officers at my party!

Usually, when the police show up at your party due to a noise complaint, it can mean an end to the festivities, or at least to the music.

But not every day is graduation day.

Getting in on the celebration

When three officers from the Carrollton Police Department in Texas arrived to investigate a noise complaint, they found the source of the problem emanating from a band in the backyard of one home.

Speaking to a woman who showed up to greet them, they asked her what all of the celebrating was about – and she told them. It was for a graduation.

Then she did something that probably not everyone thinks to do when the police show up at their house. She invited them to come in the back, grab some food, and enjoy the live tunes.

It didn’t seem like anyone was in trouble. It was still daytime, so the music coming from the backyard was happening a little too early in the day to disturb the sleep of slumbering neighbors.

Instead, the police were actually starting to dance a little to the beat.

They decided to take her up on her offer and went around to the backyard.

Body cam

One officer’s body cam caught everything, including him spinning the graduating girl herself around to the music. Instead of issuing a citation, the police had joined in and were having fun too and enjoying the spectacular afternoon.

But soon enough, they had to return to their official work. With a little sadness, they departed, one of them still dancing a little to the beat of the band as he walked back down the sidewalk towards his patrol car.

While no one wants the police called on their party, in the end, they ended up making it just a little bit more memorable.

It’s not every day that you can claim that the police came to your party, not to shut it down, but to live it up.

Everyone’s celebrating

It wasn’t just party goers who were relieved that the police weren’t there to put an end to things.

The police were also happy about how they had gotten to spend a little bit of their day.

They posted the body cam footage on their Facebook page, along with the caption:

“We get “invited” to the greatest parties…”

In just a little over a week, the video has already been seen 4.6 million times with over 55,000 shares on Facebook alone.

People who saw it loved it and let the police know what a great job they were doing.

Here are some of the comments:

“I would love to have these people as my neighbor!!! Some people just want to complain about everything. Happy graduation and awesome response by CPD”

  • Stephanie Bower Prock

“World would be a better place if people could enjoy themselves, their families and respect the police and police respect and love the people they protect in return. Great Job Carrollton PD!”

Of course, there was still one complaint. We wonder if they’re the neighbor who called it in:

“Live Bands aren’t allowed in Carrollton without a permit!!!!! It doesn’t matter what time of day it is if it is bothering one of your neighbors. You have 4 neighbors to consider. If the noise is 5 feet over the boundary line and bothering someone it needs to stop!!!!”

  • Kathy Langhorst-Tienter

We’re not complaining! We hope everyone has a great summer in Carrollton!
