Imagine driving along in your car when someone hits it. Well, more like something hits it so hard that it crashes through the window. Whatโs more, that โsomethingโ just happens to be a living, squawking goose.
Police in Nottinghamshire, England, couldnโt believe their ears when they got a call about a goose smashing through a taxi window. Itโs not exactly a common complaint, so they hopped right on it.
The Radford Road Police Department even tweeted about it.
โWhen a colleague asked if a call had been received about a goose flying into a taxi over the radio, we had to see it to believe it,โ said the post.

When officers arrived on the scene, they confirmed there was a live goose sitting in the back seat of the taxi.

The Nottingham Goose Fair is an annual event that takes place at the beginning of October. The goose was right on time! Itโs the largest traveling fair in Europe, dating back seven centuries.

Back in the day, the Goose Fair was a place for vendors to sell geese in time for Michaelmas.
You wonโt see any live geese these days, although there is a 6-foot-tall goose replica named Goosey. There are also food booths galore and as many as 500 attractions, including rides.

But this goose doesnโt need an amusement park ride โ it can fly on its own.
The goose was pronounced uninjured after a visit to a local vet. But the poor taxi driver, Nayyar Tabasam, had to recover from the shock of having a goose fly through the window. To add insult to injury, he had to pay for the repairs to his vehicle.

Tabasam said heโd just dropped off a student at the university when something struck the taxi.
The impact threw glass everywhere and stunned the driver.
โI thought somebody had thrown something at the car for a start so I slowed down to see if I could see anyone around but there was no one,โ he said. โIt was a shock at the time, I didnโt see anything as the goose was coming from the side and it made a lot of noise.โ

The shell-shocked Tabasam realized the source of the noise.
It was a very angry, large Canada goose. It remained perched on the back seat amid a shower of broken glass. That was where local police officers found it when responding to Tabasamโs call.
Imagine having to call the police because thereโs a goose in your car and you donโt know how to get it out.

It wasnโt a pleasant experience for anyone involved but the best news is that no one was hurt. As for Tabasam, he might be feeling extra cautious the next time he gets in his taxi.
