There’s no denying that most of us that have seen the original “Lion King” still remember it’s most impactful and endearing moments. From the deeply soulful intro of the animal kingdom to the evolution of a young lion named Simba, the Disney movie was packed with moments that will grip you for the rest of time.
So what happens when an adorable pitbull gets a first glance at the flick? Well, let’s just say it was too much for her heart (and ours) to take.
A video posted online captures the bittersweet moment a sweet pitbull realizes what’s happening on screen.
One of the most memorably painful scenes of the entire movie occurs when a young Simba witnesses the death of his father by the paws of Scar, his uncle. As the scene unfolds, we begin to see this lovable pit take sympathy and react in such a way that might make your heart flutter.
The pitbull immediately whimpers as Simba notices his father lying stiff on the ground.
The scene is enough to make any grown person drown in their own tears. The result proved the same for this poor pup as he could not fathom what he had just witnessed.
Her tail wagged uncontrollably as she realized she couldn’t do anything to save Simba. Helpless and confined to the mercy of her couch, the pup looked on with horror as she braced for the worst.
We can see the pup moving slightly trying to reconcile her feelings.
It’s clear that her emotions have been stirred enough to cause visual discomfort. Her gaze is consistently fixed on the screen and doesn’t seem to be distracted whatsoever.
The doggo, named Luna, even lays down right when Simba lays down to his deceased father. The compassion in her eyes is telling. Whoever thought dogs don’t have feelings is clearly mistaken!
When uncle Scar comes into play, Luna scrunches her face slightly in the cushion as if to show her disgust towards the vile villain. You can tell she wanted nothing more than to desperately stay by Simba’s side and comfort him during this tragic time of his life.
It may come as a surprise to a lot of people when they see a dog react to images on a television, when in fact it’s a totally normal thing.
In a 2013 study conducted and published by the journal Animal Cognition, it demonstrates a dog’s ability to interpret and understand images of other dogs among videos and images using their visual senses.
That’s because dogs have dichromatic vision, which means they primarily see in yellow and blue, whereas humans have trichromatic vision. Some channels like DogTV are specifically designed to accommodate a dog’s visual prowess because it adjusts the frame rate and specific colors to allow the dog to view them.
There all kinds of dogs and each with their own personality.
Some may enjoy watching these types of networks to help relax them or to even stimulate their brains with more information. Exposure in most things is a great way to determine what kind of personality your dog has and if he/she would be cool enough to watch tv with.
Luna is the perfect example of man’s best friend, displaying compassion and empathy for something as trivial as an animated children’s movie.
She cares deeply enough to wear her tender emotions on her sleeve with no hesitation. For all the proud doggo parents out there, make sure to hug your pup tight next time you see them because they would gladly do the same for you.
