For some people having siblings is like having built-in best friends for life. But on the other hand, being a twin takes it to a whole other level.
The close bond between twins actually can start earlier than some may realize. One set of parents had the chance to witness just how early – and they captured the beautiful scene on film.
It’s not even a cliché, there’s nothing as incredible as the miracle of birth. After carrying your child for nine months (or being along for the ride) – finally getting to meet them in person is a priceless moment no parent ever forgets.
The mom and dad in the video below were expecting a set of twins. So on the day of their scheduled c-section, they made sure to bring along their GoPro camera to record it all.

Emotions are running high in the delivery room as the little ones are brought into the world. Born just 2 minutes apart, mom and dad finally get to meet their babies, Leonidas Rylan and Reese Craven.
Interesting fact: According to the CDC, between 1980 and 2009 the birthrate of twins went up 76%. On the website Statista they reported:
“As of 2017 the birth rate for twins in the U.S. was 33.3 per 1,000 live births. It is believed that an increase in the twin birth rate may be associated with an increased use of vitro fertilization and other assisted reproductive technologies in recent years.”
The video footage shows the excitement (and chaos) that occurs when any precious newborn first arrives. However, the feelings are only doubled with two new babies to welcome.
Eventually, one of the babies is lying in a hospital crib while the other is being held. The one being held is not happy at all – and uncontrollably cries.
Then something amazing happens.
Instead of being separated, the twin siblings are placed next to each other in the same crib so they can touch. Within moments the babies are soothed and calm.
Dad is taken aback by the scene he’s witnessing, saying:
“Aww, they’ve missed each other. They’re 100% fine now. That’s amazing!”
As it turns out, the close bond between twins can form relatively early in the womb. Researchers have found that twin fetuses begin interacting with each other at about 14 weeks.
According to Scientific American, a study was conducted by researchers from the University of Parma and the University of Turin where they monitored the motions of five pairs of fetuses. Scientists discovered that the twins began “reaching toward their neighbors by the 14th week of gestation,” (which was reported in an issue of PLoS ONE).
Scientific American explained:
“Over the following weeks they reduced the numÂber of movements toward themselves and instead reached more frequently toward their counterparts. By the 18th week they spent more time contacting their partners than themselves or the walls of the uterus. Almost 30 percent of their movements were directed toward their prenatal companions.”
It’s no wonder that the Paxton twins seemed to be made whole again once they were placed next to each other. After all that time in the womb together, it seems like their bond had already formed. Surely they’ll be best friends for life.
