The song is a part of his Bridges album which is considered a success right after its release. The album debuted at the 2nd spot of the US Billboard 2000 and the 1st spot in the US Top Album Sales chart.
In their live performance in Madison Square Garden, Jennifer and Josh delivered an impeccable performance. Their voices sounded like pure magic. They blended really well and their harmony was just on point.

Josh used his parents’ 50 years of marriage as an inspiration. He thought that it’s common for today’s generation to live one day at a time, wondering what it would be like in the future.
He finds his parents’ strong marriage inspiring, particularly with all the trials and tribulations they’ve gone through. His parents came over hardships and despite all the challenges, they are still together.
For someone who has not been married yet, it can be quite hard to fathom. And the ideas that went on his mind while imagining those things encouraged him to write a song about the uncertainties of romance.
After wrapping up the song, Josh realized that it would be better if it’s done as a duet.
So, he picked someone with a voice that’ll fit not just the song but the whole story behind it. He chose Jennifer Nettles and their duet was just magical.
Jennifer is the lead vocalist of Sugarland. She’s an American singer, songwriter, and actress. She’s also a Broadway performer. She made her debut in Chicago, a record-breaking and Tony Award-winning musical. She has also performed in the Hollywood Bowl’s Mamma Mia, a summer production.
With her background and talent in music, it’s no wonder why she was handpicked by Josh to perform one of his latest masterpieces. Her voice is the perfect fit for the song.
Apart from Jennifer, Josh has performed duets with a lot of known personalities in the music industry. One of his most famous duets is with Celine Dion when they performed The Prayer.
He also performed a duet with Kelly Clarkson for All I Ask of You and Sarah McLachlan with The Arms of An Angel.
