Would you remember to protect the ones you love?

There are an estimated 20,000 earthquakes per year around the world, some of them extremely severe.

In 2022, there was a large 6.8 earthquake in Sichuan, China that brought the whole city to a standstill.

Through the use of home-based surveillance cameras, we were able to witness many instances of heroic actions.

Upon feeling the beginnings of the quake, one mother ran to her infant daughter’s bedside and held the baby until the shaking subsided.

The particular baby was born with a rare disease that required the use of a ventilator so the mother was not able to move the baby from the bed she was laying in, instead, she draped herself over the child in order to protect her.

In another instance, a mother and father brought their baby onto the bed and circled it.

The baby was safe in its mother’s arms as both she and her husband huddled together for protection, all three kept safe with each other.

On the opposite end of the child-parent relationship, a pre-teen boy warned his mother what was coming and guided her to a safe spot.

There was also a bedridden grandmother who, if not for her granddaughter, would have been stuck right where she was.

Thankfully for her though, her granddaughter swooped into action and picked up the elderly woman, carrying her like a child to safety.

The fear on the woman’s face was prominent when the quake started, but as soon as she saw her granddaughter coming for her, she knew she would be ok.

In another instance, a boy and his young sister were enjoying a lazy day of watching cartoons when the shaking started.

The boy immediately jumped off the couch and grabbed his sister.

He helped her over some toys that were in the way and then the two ran to a safer spot to wait out the quake.

And it wasn’t only family relationships that had people acting as heroes.

In a school’s security camera, a group of kindergarten teachers were seen enjoying their lunches together as the kids napped when the activity started.

Each one of the teachers jumped up from the table immediately and ran to wake their students.

They guided dozens of children safely out of the building and to an open spot where there was less risk of injury.

Though the children were scared, as the adults must have been too, they followed the example set by their teachers and calmly but quickly made their way out.

The students were all kept safe and would surely have had an interesting story to tell their parents later that night.

In another case, a nanny bundled the infant in her care up onto her shoulder and ran down 20 flights of stairs.

Each and every instance in this video showcases a hero who risked getting themselves to safety immediately, for saving their loved one or charge.

It is undoubtedly that lives were saved due to the actions of these brave souls.
