Apparently, this really works!

Is there anything more difficult than trying to get a sick child to take their medicine?

Though to be fair, you can hardly blame them. It’s not exactly delicious – I certainly still gag when I take a spoonful of cough syrup. In fact I’m cringing just thinking about it.

But, it must be done. No pain no gain.

As all parents know though, children don’t see it that way. They’ll act like you’re trying to kill them. And that can be stressful when all you want is for your little darling to get better.

Well, one clever mom has cracked the code!

After struggling for 24 hours to get her baby to take Calpol (the British equivalent of Tylenol), Helen Lee was out of ideas and decided to try a hot tip she had once heard about.

She grabbed the medicine, a syringe, and a baby bottle.

To her surprise, it worked!

So, naturally, she shared her success with her friends on Facebook and the tip quickly went viral.

“FOR ALL MUMMIES… So for the last 24 hours I’ve struggled to get Alfie to take Calpol, he has ended up covered in half of it where he spits it at me. Then I remembered seeing this trick… Not 1 bit got wasted and no tears.” – Helen Lee

It was shared almost 200,000 times, and has an unbelievable number of comments – mostly made by parents tagging their spouses or friends in the comments.

Because this is the internet, there were many people who just had to remind everyone that this isn’t a revolutionary discovery. Some nurses said it was an old trick they have been teaching to new moms for years, but what good is a parenting hack if you can’t use it?!

Parents walk away from the hospital after the birth of a child with so much information, it must be impossible to remember it all.

Sometimes we need our internet heroes.

What Helen did was mask the regular syringe tube behind the nipple of a bottle.

The thirsty baby boy, with no idea that anything different might be on the other side, drank seamlessly while Helen pushed the medicine through the bottle cap.

A few not-so-lucky commenters tried the technique but didn’t have quite so much success.

Some babies were too smart.
