We’ve all heard the saying that “distance makes the heart grow fonder”, but it doesn’t make it any easier to go a long time without seeing those that we love the most. Just ask this pooch whose owner left home to study abroad.
The pup and owner alike did not look forward to the seperation at all, but fortunately the young man’s mother was willing to help out. For the year her son was gone, the mother committed to sending him a picture of his dog every single dog. Talk about committment!
Before we check out a few of the shots from the collection. let’s discuss how dog’s memory works. First of all, dogs have a much better sense of smell than humans–40 times better to be exact. That means that they can remember scents long after they first took a whiff of them. Often, pets associate certain smells with their owners and will react in a familiar way once they smell them again.
Plus, dog’s rely on facial recognition to distinguish their owner from other humans. Just like people, they can identify their owner in a crowd of people based on the mere sight of them. However, dogs with poor vision may not be able to readily identify their owner as easily.
So was this dog able to remember her owner after a year apart? Let’s see how the story unfolds in pictures.

The Moment Has Arrived!
This picture perfectly captures the moment they saw each other after a year of being apart. But the question remains–does she remember her owner?
The Answer?
Of course! There is no doubt that this pup recognized her owner even after the separation. It’s hard to tell who is happiest!
This should remind us that our pets don’t forget about us so easily. They have the ability to miss and love us just as much as we do!
