Every parent’s worst nightmare is to hold a funeral for their child.
Unfortunately, Mary Jane Mendoza of Mexico had to experience this very thing.
Her three-year-old daughter, Camila Roxana Martinez Mendoza, was brought to the hospital because of stomach pains. She was also vomiting and had a fever.
The little girl was initially brought to a local hospital, but the family was advised to get her to a bigger hospital. The child was prescribed paracetamol to treat her pain and fever.
Camila’s condition worsened and her mother took her to another doctor.
The next physician who checked up on the child advised the family to give the girl fruits and water, because of her gradually worsening dehydration. But it did not help, and the toddler even went into severe dehydration.
Eventually, Mary Jane rushed Camila to the emergency room because of her condition.
It was there that the hospital staff proclaimed the child dead after about 10 minutes of putting her on intravenous fluids.
Camila was proclaimed dead and the cause was dehydration.
As much as it hurt, Mary Jane had to accept the reality that her little girl is now gone. Her family handled the funeral which was held the next day.
Their entire family was mourning the loss of a young girl who had so much in front of her but passed away due to dehydration. Mary Jane and her family accepted the doctors’ declaration and tried to cope with the grief that their home was engulfed in since Camila’s “death.”
And then, Mary Jane found the glass panel of her daughter’s coffin mysteriously clouding over.
Her words were not believed in when she shared this observation with the rest of their family. She was disregarded as “hallucinating” because of so much grief over the loss of her little girl.
But everything changed when Camila’s grandmother saw that the child’s eyes moved and discovered that she has a pulse. They immediately removed her from the coffin and rushed her back to the hospital in an ambulance.
It was in there that doctors tried to revive little Camila, and ended up failing.
Doctors worked on the child and attempted to save her life this time. Unfortunately, all their efforts ended in failure. Camila eventually died of cerebral edema or swelling of the brain.
Once again, Mary Jane had to bring home her dead child. But, this time, it was confirmed to be true.
What transpired was an unusual case, and Mary Jane wanted to know nothing but the truth behind what happened. She filed a case against the doctors who declared the death of her little Camila.
Mary Jane shared with El Universal that she is not holding any grudges against the health care professionals. But, she still believed that they have to be charged with the proper punishments so “this does not happen again”.
An investigation has been launched by the San Luis Potosi State Attorney General.
