“It doesn’t matter if you don’t have the money…I’ll provide. Trust Me.”

Sara Fleming heard the voice in her head loud and clear, so she pulled out her wallet and told the cashier to put everything on her card. That included the $94.10 worth of stuff that the single dad standing in line in front of her had racked up.

Hey, it was the holidays, so why not do something a little bit extra special? Everyone always seems to spend more money than they actually have around Christmastime, all in the name of Santa Claus.

Except the sort of spending that Sarah had done wasn’t for the sake of this single dad’s Christmas tree. Nor was it a foolhardy decision to pay it forward.

The voice that whispered into her ear was a divine command came straight from the heavens above!

Sara Fleming recently shared a story about synchronicity, and how God connected the dots between two seemingly random people until they met in the middle once again.

It all started over the holidays, when Sara was at the grocery store buying some food.

“Sweet friends, this is a true story. I’m sharing for others to hear of God’s goodness and mercy. It’s not about me. Great things HE hath done!”

At 10:00 p.m. that night, the cash register at the grocery store rang up $94.10. The man was already buying the bare minimum of what he thought he could afford, but it was still too much.

“I watched as the man in front of me asked the cashier to put things to the side. Over and over again. He kept swiping his card. Declined.”

We’ve all had our cards declined at one time or another, and usually we just whip out another. But this dad literally had nothing left to offer.

“There was a girl and boy with him, and I heard them call him ‘Dad’ several times. The girl was a pre-teen, and the boy was about my son’s age. I could see the embarrassment written all over their faces.”

The timing couldn’t be worse for this poor father. All of this was happening right after Thanksgiving, and Sara wondered if their day of feasting had instead been filled with famine.

The cashier started putting the food he couldn’t pay for under the counter.

“Then suddenly, I felt it. It was like a gentle shove on the back and a mild electric shock to my heart.”

“Pay for these groceries,” it said. “It doesn’t matter if you don’t have the money…I’ll provide. Trust Me.”

Sara heard God’s command, but just as she was about to open her mouth and say something, she hesitated. What if she embarrassed this man’s kids even more?

“That small voice still called again. Another shove. Stronger this time. ‘I’ve got it,’ I blurted out loudly, as heat flooded my face.”

The man slowly turned around, not believing what he heard. His children’s eyes had turned big as saucers. By now, dad is crying, and his daughter is hugging him.

“I don’t know how to thank you. I’m a single Dad. It’s so hard.”

Sara prayed that God would cover her purchase like he said he would. According to her, he did!

“It’s okay. I wanted to help. I know it’s what God told me to do. And I have been there,’ I replied quietly.”

A couple of months later when Sara was sitting in church with her family, she spotted the same dad and his 2 kids sitting at the end of her pew.

They weren’t just in her church, they were in the same pew, and it also happened that they were the only other people in her row.

You might say that God had brought them together in perfect alignment.

“I just obeyed God.”

Sara began to sob quietly to herself, her skin covered in goosebumps at the realization of what just happened. The dots had been finally been connected.

Out of all the churches in their city, this dad was a member of hers.

“I never told him I was a Christian. I never even told him where I went to church. The same One who brought this Dad and his family to my church that Sunday.”

Sara wants everyone to know that this experience taught her that “it’s not about me.” It’s all about HIM!

“Glory to the Lord God Almighty, great things HE hath done.”
