One great aspect of having a dog as a pet is the fact that the right one can be extremely good with kids. Many dog breeds understand that children are members of the family, and they have a tendency to take good care of them. In addition, having a dog around children can help them to learn to care for another living thing while also learning about compassion and loyalty. That is exactly what this family found out.
Meet Pumpkin
This couple had a Shetland sheepdog called Pumpkin as a pet for seven years before they decided to have kids. When they did bring their first child home, they had no hesitation in letting Pumpkin bond. When they were blessed with another child, Pumpkin welcomed the second one with a loving lick. The owners of Pumpkin are sure they made the right decision because Pumpkin has been great with their kids.
Pure Entertainment
Of all the sounds in the world, there is very little that can compare to the full bellied laughter of a child. And that is exactly what they witnessed one day. The mother heard the baby squealing with laughter and when she went to investigate, she saw Pumpkin running around the baby which led to the pure innocent laugh that she was hearing.
Round and Round
She was able to capture the dog and baby on video. You can even you can hear the happy laughter of the child as Pumpkin ran in circles around them for at least a solid five minutes. Pumpkin would run around, lie down, wag his tail and run around again much to the delight of the baby. Mom says that this went on for a long time and you can really see the bond that Pumpkin and the baby share.
Dog Day Afternoon
This is just one of the many sights that you can look forward to when you have a dog and a baby in the house. They are both extremely adorable in their own right, but together they can really bring things to life. Dogs bond easily with babies and when babies also become comfortable around them, it can lead to a lot of moments that are overloaded with cuteness as is evident in the video that this mom managed to take and share with the world!
That said, it is always best to supervise dogs with babies and small children.
Man’s Best Friend
Out of all the animals in the world, dogs are the ones that bond the most with humans. The cat people versus dog people debate will continue for ages, but there is no disputing the fact that dogs are loving and loyal pets.

Domestication
In the earlier times, protection may have been one of the foremost reasons for the domestication of dogs. Being extremely loyal, dogs are known to go to any lengths to protect the humans that they care about. They are also extremely good at alerting people against intruders, be they human or animals. This is the reason that, even today, dogs are used as guards in many places.
Puppy Love
But more than that, what dogs bring to any house is the kind of love they share. There is nothing in the world that can compare to having a dog waiting eagerly to lick your face when you come home after a long day’s work. All the fatigue and stress simply melt away in the face of the love that they show.
