A dog needs to be given proper care and love to be able to live a good life. A person can adopt a stray dog to make sure that it doesn’t need to fend for itself on the streets.

One kind man in Dubai was given this opportunity when he saw a stray dog in a parking lot.

Anand Raman was not planning on adopting any dog the day that he went to visit his sister in her workplace. Nor did he expect that day that a stray dog would run to him as if it already knew him.

It was a hot day in Dubai and the dog that ran to Raman had been hiding from the sun underneath a car at his sister’s workplace. The dog was dirty and had been eating leftovers.

The dog also looked as if he had a rough life out on the streets.

“His fur was matted and his legs weren’t quite right,” Raman said. However the dog looked happy to have found Raman. It wagged its tail excitedly upon meeting him. “This demeanor of his is what initially made me fall in love him,” Raman told The Dodo.

Raman then made a decision to keep the dog. Later on that day, he drove to the hospital to have the dog vaccinated.

“He was exhausted when I first got him, which is why he fell asleep right away in the car ride to the hospital,” he said.

In the hospital, Raman found out that the problem with the dog’s legs were actually rickets due to malnutrition. However, Raman was given the assurance that the dog’s condition could improve and wouldn’t have lasting effects.

Raman took the dog home and gave him a bath. He was shocked to learn of the dog’s real color.

“I was surprised to find out that his fur was actually pure white after all the dirt and grime came off his body,” he said.

The discovery of the dog’s color made Raman name his new pet Snowy. The name Snowy was taken after the faithful dog in the comic “The Adventures of Tintin.”

Making Snowy feel safe after living on the streets became a challenge to Raman.

“Getting him adapted to a house at first wasn’t easy,” Raman said. “He wasn’t sure where to go and what to explore, so he’d just sit in a corner.”

Even going for a walk constantly terrified Snowy since he feared being abandoned again. The dog would break free from Raman and run back to the parking lot of the building complex on numerous occasions that they were out for a walk.

But, eventually, Snowy was able to trust Raman fully and was able to understand that his owner loved and wanted him.

It is now almost three years since Snowy became part of Raman’s life. In May last year, Raman posted on Instagram a video montage of Snowy. Raman wrote in his post that the years spent being with the dog was a “pretty dope” experience.

We need more people like Raman in the world.
