When one man saw dogs bundled up to be sold for their meat, he knew he had to do something.

This manโs family is in Singapore, but he is stationed in China. As he was strolling through an alley, he saw a group of people that had a bunch of dogs trapped in bags.
These innocent dogs were going to be slaughtered for their meat.
He couldnโt stand by and do nothing, so he spent about $90 to save a life. According to the Dodo, his apartment does not allow pets. Otherwise, he would have saved more:
โHis environment isnโt dog-friendly so he couldnโt buy more,โ Danielle, his daughter, said. โBut [he] at least got to save one.โ
He brought the dog home and took a photo, capturing the state he found the dog in. This dog was being treated as nothing more than meat, and not as something that deserved the right to live.

Now, this man has an amazing friend to keep him company. He even named the dog โDoggo.โ
Unfortunately, the place where Danielleโs dad lives do not allow pets, so he has been keeping Doggo at his office. Hopefully, they can figure out a better arrangement soon.
However, the puppy has taken advantage of his new lease on life and enjoys exploring the office, eating, and playing. Just look at the photos below!
Doggo loves to eat!

And he loves making a mess too

Doggoโs living situation is not perfect, but it definitely is much better than it would have been had this Good Samaritan not been there to save him. Weโre so thankful that this man took action when he saw something he didnโt agree with. Now, he even has a new friend to keep him company
Here is Danielleโs original tweet that captured this beautiful story.
A month ago my dad bumped into a grp of men selling live dogs to dog eaters and he bought one home out of pity. Look at him now!! pic.twitter.com/GDhbieLydR

The dog meat trade is definitely not what it once was, especially as a recent law banned the consumption of dog meat at the Yulin festival in China. However, dogs are still regularly traded and slaughtered for their meat. We hope that stories like Doggoโs spread awareness about the issue and help reduce animal cruelty in the future.
While cultural norms in different parts of the world may dictate what animals are โacceptableโ to consume as meat, the abusive treatment of these animals is not okay anywhere.
When dogs are raised for their meat, they are often mistreated and abused for their entire lives before they are slaughtered. There are a number of organizations, including the Humane Society of the United States, that are working to close dog meat farms.
This organization has shut down a number of farms already and is working to shut even more down.
Doggoโs story reminds us that anyone can make a difference. What started as a simple act of kindness to save one dog has now spread to raise awareness on the issue around the world.
