This harrowing incident took place in Gagarin Park in the city of Simferopol. In summer, this park is a popular place for locals to go for walks. It’s also a popular picnic destination.

In winter, Gagarin Park is usually much quieter since it gets so cold. The temperature on the day the dog fell into the pond was a freezing 23 degrees Fahrenheit. The poor pup had trouble swimming in the pond, and he was also in danger of getting hypothermia.

The dog tried his hardest to escape, but he couldn’t get out on his own.

A good Samaritan named Maxim Salomatin saw the dog struggling, and he decided that he would save the pup by jumping into the pond himself.

Onlookers captured video of the brave rescue. The video begins by showing the heroic man getting ready to go into the water. Salomatin sits down on the snow-covered ground and slowly lowers himself into the freezing water.

The dog lets Salomatin push him through the water, and soon, they both reach the edge of the pond.

Salomatin picks the dog up and runs out of the water. Salomatin slips on the snow as he runs up the steep riverbank, but thankfully he and the dog are both okay!

Everyone is relieved that the dog is okay, and they all begin petting the pup.

Hopefully, the dog and his rescuer went for a nice hot meal to warm themselves up! Both of them definitely deserved a good hot cup of soup.

Another commentator was amazed that anyone could think of anything negative to say about this video:

“I can not understand those who put a negative comment to this video. I myself once in my childhood fell through the ice on the lake and I know how the water burns in such conditions. Bravo rescuer! Health to him and the rescued dog!”

From the comments, it’s clear that everyone loved getting to witness Salomatin’s act of bravery.
