There’s nothing more heartbreaking than being separated from or having to leave your pet behind. Unfortunately, that has been the case for some pet owners in Texas during Hurricane Harvey as some pets have run off scared by the storm or when shelters refuse to accept pets .
Thankfully, there are many people out there fighting to save pets whose owners have been affected by the storm.
Some people are going as far as risking their own lives to save some of these animals. That was the case for Carson Crosby of Lumberton, Texas and his neighbors.
He captured a crew wading through raging flood waters to save a dog struggling to stay afloat. Crosby, his brother Travis Crosby, and neighbors Darryl and Kavan Wise spotted their neighbor’s dog in distress and clinging to a fir tree for his life.
The poor little dog had been swept away by the fast paced flood waters.
Though the rushing waters could have been filled with hazardous objects and other dangerous things, the neighbors didn’t hesitate to step in and try to rescue the dog.
The entire brave rescue was captured on video and posted on YouTube where it’s gotten more than 24,955 retweets.
The men decided they would hold one end of a yellow strap while the other end was attached to a third man’s waist as he tried to rescue the dog. The man walked out into waist-deep water trying to keep his footing as the flood waters rushed around him.
Finally, the man gets to the tree where the grabs the dog. Once he had a hold of the dog, the other men reeled him back into an area where the water was shallow.
He loses his footing a few times but is pulled to safety.
The dog just remained still during his rescue. Poor little guy. Crosby told FOX 26 that the dog was reunited with its owner and that the man who rescued the dog was doing well.
Someone on Twitter with the handle @CaseyDFrederick said that it is their dog who is named Bandit.
“Very thankful to the teenagers that saved him!!”@CaseyDFrederick said.
