With dating apps like Tinder, you never know what you’re going to get. You could meet your soulmate, or you could meet some weirdo who doesn’t know how to talk to women. Any simple internet search can bring you some crazy recounts of peoples worst dates, or on the rare occasion, the best ones. But we love all the amazing stories that come from the misadventures of people using Tinder, no matter how strange.
Giving your number out on these types of apps can be nerve wracking, because the person on the other end of the phone could be a total creep, but in this instance it was just a guy, showing a girl one of his very nerdy hobbies.
Then there’s the fact that he was sending pictures. Some people would cringe when they saw that their recent Tinder date sent them a picture, because who knows what that could be. But this is one instance where it turned out to be something wholesome.
Once this guy got the girls number he was most excited to show her his collection of rocks. The two texted back and forth for a while, but the conversation only consisted of him sending pictures of rocks and telling her all about them. There were at least four different types from sulfur to sapphire.
Whats great about this guy is that he doesn’t just casually mention his rock collection. He goes on to talk about it extensively. “This is fluorite… called alien eye… can you tell why lol” is just one of the many texts she received from this man. She only responds here and there politely to his many texts and pictures, but it’s enough to get him to keep going. He even admits he may have a problem with rocks.”I just keep accumulating them. I have an addiction.”
One of the best parts is the comments that she received once she posted the thread to Tumblr. Everyone was loving the innocence of it. “Oddly this is pretty sweet and endearing,” said one user. “I’m glad they acted interested and supportive, I love hearing people talk about the stuff they’re interested in!” And of course there were plenty of puns. “When this kid gets rejected he’s going to hit rock bottom…” Or the simplest one “He rocks!”
Whether it’s nerdy or not, it’s a lot better than the creepy stories that come from Tinder, and something I’m sure this girl is also thankful for. Whether they went on to date, who knows, but it made for an interesting story, you hopefully learned something from.
