Volkswagen Beetles are iconic, people everywhere collect and fix-up the old “bugs.” The classic cars have even had a game called “slug bug” created from them, that most of us played as children! I’ve seen some pretty cool VW Beetles in my day, but nothing comes close to these!
This man created the coolest tiny motorcycles out of an old VW Beetle, I’ll bet you’ve never seen anything like it!
Slick and colorful, he built the little mini-bikes using the bubbly fenders off of an old VW Beetle
Brent Walter builds all sorts of clever designs from his workshop at home, though it’s just a hobby, his last project was brilliant! He’s always loved the classic VW Beetle cars, so when he set out to make, “Volkspods,” it wasn’t a surprise. It was a difficult project, the fenders he wanted to use were in bad shape.
Walter had been fixing up an old Volkswagen for trophy car shows when he got the idea, he had two-wheel hubs leftover and wanted to practice his welding anyway! So he started working on the miniature bikes, and the result was far better than he ever imagined.
Once the vision was in place, he got to work on the unique project. Walter posted the process to Instagram
Walter started by building two Volkswagon engines, and their framework, he built one 79cc motor and a 212cc motor. Once the motors were ready, he got to work on the fenders. He used the fenders from an old bug, as the bodies of the motorcycles.
The fenders he had were dilapidated, Walter had to do extensive bodywork to bring them back to life! He welded the fenders, sanded them to perfection, and gave them a vibrant paint job!
Once the fenders were smoothed out and painted, Walter welded them to the motor
Now that he had beautiful birch green and pastel blue fenders, he could mount them onto the engines! As the “Volkspods” came together, Walter hooked up a functioning headlight and brake lights.
Equipped with the 212cc motor and more clearance, the pastel blue “Volkspod” is more practical to ride
Both the mini-bikes are stunning to look at, but the blue one will offer you a better ride! They both have custom-built frames, retro bike handlebars, and a comfy seat. Who wouldn’t want to cruise one of these stylish bikes!?
With both mini-bikes assembled, Walter has a pair of one-of-a-kind “Volkspods” and people on social media are loving them! One of his posts has over 5k likes!
Walter also made a video to show us how the “Volkspods” are in action
I would buy one of these incredible mini-bikes, they look like something out of the Jetsons! If Brent Walter ever wants to change careers, he’ll have no problem selling these awesome little motorcycles! To see the “Volkspods” in action, watch the video below!
