Quitting your job is never easy. There’s no knowing how your boss will take it- and even if they don’t show it, there’s a chance that they might be annoyed at you.

No matter what the circumstances, most bosses will accept your resignation with dignity.

But when one poor man from Fayetteville left his job, his last paycheck from his former employer showed clearly how his boss was feeling about the situation.

Andreas Flaten left his job at Walker Luxury Auto Works in November 2020, but was having some trouble getting his final paycheck.

The situation went on for so long that Andreas eventually contacted the Georgia Department of Labor to help him get his money back.

He was owed $915, which would equate to a lot of hours of unpaid work.

Eventually, Andreas received the money from his former boss- but not quite in the way he was expecting. One day, as he was leaving his home to go to the store, he noticed a pile of oil-covered pennies sitting in his driveway.

With a sinking heart, Andreas picked up the envelope that was on top of the pennies. He already had a feeling who this money was from.

Apparently, the employer’s note had rudely told Andreas, “f— you” and contained his last paycheck.

“This is a childish thing to do,” Andreas said.

With little other choice, Andreas had to spend his day collecting up each and every penny, which he put into a wheelbarrow. By the time he was done, the weight of the pennies was so high that the wheelbarrow’s wheels had begun to deflate.

“If I’ve done my math correctly, 91,515 pennies should come out to be about — at two and a half grams each — about 504 pounds,” Andreas said.

Not only are the pennies heavy, but they’re also completely covered in oil and grease.

Andreas currently has to spend his evenings cleaning them with a solution of dish soap, vinegar, and water, but it’s incredibly slow work. It took him an hour and a half just to clean several hundred.

“I think that’s going to be a lot of work for money I’ve already worked for,” he said. “It’s going to be hours upon hours of just thing to clean this money up so that it’s even able to be spent. It’s definitely not fair at all.”

There is so much oil on the pennies that Andreas worries about how it will harm the environment. He lives in an area with fruit trees and a freshwater creek, and worried that the oil would slide down his driveway and make its way into the water.

Perhaps after hearing about the difficulties that his former employee has had to go through, Andreas’ boss might feel guilty?

FOX 5 managed to get the business owner on the phone, but he didn’t seem to show any remorse. In fact, he quickly explained that he had paid Flaten in U.S. currency and did not want to be a part of the story.

According to former employees, the work environment at Walker Luxury Auto Works is extremely toxic. Many had very negative things to say about owner Miles Walker, who crossed the line on multiple occassions.
