Lion King‘s ‘The Circle of Life’ is certainly a song made for the more talented vocalist. It takes a lot of skill to hit those high notes and give the song the justice it deserves.

If you and a friend were going to try and perform a duet of this hit, then you would be faced with even more challenges.

Both of you have got to be in tune. Both of you have got to keep in time. Is there going to be any harmonies? There are so many things to take into consideration! This song is not for the faint hearted.

But one man and his friend are up for the challenge.

Meet Nathan. He’s a donkey who lives in Sumter, South Carolina with his owner, Travis.

He’s also a rescue donkey. Travis told FOX Carolina,

“I got him from about the North Carolina, South Carolina line. He was causing some trouble at someone else’s house and I picked him up for $100 bucks, he seemed alright with me.”

Hilariously, it seems this rebellious donkey also has a thing for The Lion King.

Travis posted a video onto Facebook with the caption, ‘Did the Lion King opening and Nathan joined in with me! 😂😂😂😂 I love this dude!’

The post soon went viral, and it’s easy to see why.

Travis begins the video by saying, “Had to get all the animals around me for his one.” He then points his camera to the field behind him where you can see Nathan the donkey and a brown horse.

Travis then sings the opening notes of “The Circle of Life.”

For a few seconds, nothing happens, and then in a hilarious moment that appears to be unexpected even to Travis himself, Nathan begins to join in.

You can see from Travis’ comically shocked face that this moment was not planned! But like the trooper he is, he continues to sing so that his backup singer can have his moment to shine.

Travis told FOX Carolina,

“I had no idea Nathan would bray. You can see in the video I’m actually shocked when he does it! He’s brayed before but never like that!”

Travis, who is the shelter director at Sumter United Ministries, filmed the video as a joke to send to a Facebook group of preachers.

He was inspired by the live-action Lion King, though he wasn’t expecting Nathan to get as involved as he did! The Facebook video gained over 3.2 million views and over 88,000 shares, making Nathan somewhat of a celebrity.

So, do Nathan and Travis have any more plans to duet?

Travis told WCSC that he’s contemplated setting up a projector in his backyard, allowing his star of the show to watch The Lion King for himself.

There’s also talks of another musical number coming any day now, with Travis pondering,

“I want to try and learn Whitney Houston’s ‘I will always love you’ and see what he does. How fun that would be!”

After seeing Nathan’s impressive vocal range, we have to agree with Travis. Someone get this donkey a record deal!
