We’ve all heard the saying that dogs are man’s best friend. Many of us love our pets just as much as we do our own kids. There is no denying the fact that over time they become cherished members of the family.
That also means that we occasionally treat them to something special.
For many dog owners, that means taking them out for a long weekend walk or giving them an extra chicken strip every once and a while. However, David Connolly from the UK loves his dog so much that he built the pup her own personal cabin in the backyard.
He posted a home tour video on Facebook showcasing the project and it has since gone viral, mainly because of how awesome it is.
In the last few weeks, the short clip has racked up over four million views.
“Maya loves her duvet days especially if it’s raining like it is today!” the video description reads.
The video shows the happy dog coming out to greet whoever is at her front door and say hello.
She can be seen excitedly wagging her tail while she hides from the rain under the roof of the beautiful structure. The craftsmanship of the little dog cabin is nothing short of amazing.
We wonder if Maya realizes just how good she has it.
Her little home actually looks nicer than many of the houses that people live in! It’s no surprise, really. Connolly himself is a professional builder and owner of the business Fencing Decking Specialists NI.
“After taking a few weeks off work we are now back at it again. Here’s a dog cabin I built for my spoilt doggy Maya while I was off,” Connolly wrote on his business page.
Once he realized how much Maya liked hanging out in the backyard, he decided to make her a cabin so she would be more comfortable.
“It has an insulated floor, porch, night light and a small heater as well, for the wintertime,” Connolly told The Dodo.
The cozy space is the perfect size for the pup, and Connolly thought of everything. He even made sure that Maya had a nice view to enjoy.
“I built her cabin raised off the ground so when she is lying inside her bedroom or on her balcony deck she can see over the top of the fence at passersby,” said Connolly
For a dog that loves the outdoors as much as Maya, it’s pretty much the perfect retreat.
Rain or shine, she can chill out on the covered balcony and check out what is going on in the neighborhood.
In the evenings, Maya still prefers to come inside the main house instead to hang out with Connolly.
However, on days when Connolly has to stay at the job site after hours to finish up a project, the cabin even has a little night light that automatically kicks on. It’s a very nice touch.
All in all, it’s one of the coolest mini dog cabins that we’ve seen. It’s so rare that a dog would get to be a homeowner these days. Doghouses have simply become less and less popular over the years. However, Maya is one of the lucky ones. She is truly living a life of luxury.
