Being a parent is a big responsibility. When youโre a mom, looking after your children is the most important thing in the world. We want to make sure that theyโre safe and well, and we put their needs before our own.
Sometimes, that even means sacrificing the things that you want, just so you can make sure theyโre okay.
We all know that dogs LOVE food. Itโs pretty much impossible to eat your dinner without your pooch staring hopefully at you from across the room, wondering if theyโre going to be lucky enough to get a tasty treat.
But when this mama dog is offered a great big piece of juicy chicken, her motherly instincts are stronger than her instincts to eat.
She eyes the chicken with a wistful expression, but remains sitting where she is next to her pup. She seems hesitant to leave her pup by itself, deciding that as delicious as the chicken looks, the safety of her baby is far more important.
What a great mom!
At one point in the video, you can even see mom licking her lips. Itโs obvious how hungry she is for the chicken, but her motherly instincts result in her refusing to leave her puppyโs side.
Every so often, she puts a protective paw onto her pups head, as if to offer reassurance by saying โIโm here for you!โ Sheโs not leaving her baby alone, no matter how tempting the offer is.
Her pup lies obediently next to her. The world is still a very new place for a little puppy and mom feels like the safest comfort to be around.
The dogsโ owner has to hold the chicken right up to mamaโs face before she takes it in her mouth.
With more self control than I have ever seen from any dog before, she drops the chicken onto the floor in front of her and then ignores it. Her owner then offers her a piece of bread, and she puts that down onto the floor next to the chicken!
Nope. Not interested.
Just imagine how delicious this tasty food must smell to her!
Her puppy also watches the food with hungry eyes, but he follows momโs lead and doesnโt eat any of the food. Mom feels safe, and mom always knows best! What an obedient little pooch.
After a few more minutes of waiting, mama decides that itโs now time to eat the chicken. Sheโs deserved it after showing just how strong her motherly instincts are!
She slowly nibbles on the chicken whilst still keeping a close eye on her baby. As soon as the puppy sees that mom is eating, it slowly put its nose to the chicken and give it an investigative sniff, before deciding that it is safe to eat.
Both dogs can then enjoy their tasty treat together, where they are happiest.
