We couldn't stop laughing after watching this.

One of the best video genres on the internet is kids trying different food for the first time.

There is just something about watching kids find out they don’t like something cute and hilarious. One little girl is tricked by the bright green color and putty texture of wasabi. She is not alone! Many people, even adults, can’t help but taste the interesting-looking food.

However, like most people, she soon realizes her mistake and can only say one word: “help!”

Another video in this genre is of a little boy, Gabriel, insisting on trying 100 percent natural unsweetened cocoa powder.

In his mind, the packaging probably looks like the chocolate bars he has eaten, so it must taste just as good! But as he dives in with a spoonful, he soon learns differently.

Immediately, you can see a look of confusion on Gabriel’s face.

His eyes go wide as he realizes it is not, in fact, sweet. He spins the container around to double-check, and the confusion deepens as he coughs out some of the powder.

Gabriel comes to terms that the powder is not at all tasty and is rather inedible. Luckily, his mom is there to usher him to the sink to get rid of the disappointing chocolate powder.

At the beginning of the wasabi video, the girl’s mom asks if she wants to try it; the girl says no twice, but in true toddler fashion, says “wasabi” and leans in when her mom tells her to smell it. At that age, kids aren’t able to second guess themselves as older kids and adults can.

Many people might wonder why the mom let her try the wasabi in the first place if she knew it would be too spicy. Gabriel’s mom sums up the reasoning at the beginning of the chocolate powder video; she lets him find out for himself.

The mom already knows the powder isn’t going to be good, and she tries to tell him, but sometimes kids need to learn for themselves. And in both videos, the kid only wants to try food and not something that is truly dangerous.

Everyone parents differently, but there is one thing that is known: if kids aren’t able to explore and make mistakes, they won’t learn.

Now the little girl knows what to expect of wasabi, and Gabriel knows chocolate powder won’t taste sweet.

In both of these cases, if the moms had said no, there’s always the possibility the kids would have tried it anyway because they are curious.

But because they allowed them to try it, they were there to control the situation and how much was consumed.

The little girl just got a little bit on the end of a chopstick touched to her lip, which anyone who has tried wasabi knows is plenty!

And Gabriel was helped when he wasn’t able to swallow the powder. Both of these situations could have ended very differently without supervision!

Although these kids might’ve had an unpleasant experience for a few seconds, it’s a necessary learning experience that all kids will have.

And who knows? Sometimes kids try something their parents don’t think they will like and they end up loving it!
