Imagine if you poured your heart and soul into something you really loved. No, seriously. Picture your favorite hobby. Maybe it’s dance, and you’ve spent thousands on lessons, shoes, the correct practice wear, costumes, and travel to and from recitals. Maybe it’s model aircraft, and you’ve spent hours and thousands of dollars on the perfect model of your favorite flying machine.
The Ultimate Lego Collection
Now imagine you’ve taken it a step further and showed your love on YouTube, uploading and editing videos of your hobby for others to enjoy and appreciate.
Now imagine it’s all ripped away from you in the blink of an eye. Imagine your beloved collection of whatever is gone as if it never even existed.
That’s what happened to republicattak, who had an 18,000-dollar Lego collection of his destroyed and stolen.
A Sad Good Bye
Fans were dismayed to find a video posted on his channel entitled simply “bye.” The video revealed that the channel was not going to make it on the sheer fact that somebody had gone through and ransacked his entire collection of Legos he spent 14 years curating. It was not only rifled through; it was destroyed, adding insult to injury.
The video went viral. Over a half-million page views have been documented as of this writing. He has gained 13,000 new subscribers in just a few days, which is huge. With that, he has 18,000 subscribers. And, best of all, there is a GoFundMe set up to help the dedicated collector recover from the loss.
The vlog is heartbreaking, to say the least. We see a devastated collector, nearly crying real tears as he attempts to come to terms with what has happened. It is almost like he has lost a special part of himself that he cannot get back. It was not just the Lego collection that was ransacked-it was his home. Such an event makes a person feel violated and afraid that it could happen again.
He acknowledges that his creation was once there, and now it is gone, completely destroyed. He believes he was targeted specifically for his Lego collection, as no other objects like computers or other valuables were taken from the home.
As viewers get their hearts broke, the video plays on. It seems that all hope is lost…until you check out that GoFundMe.
A Brighter Day
As of this writing, there is $17900 waiting for republicattak. Thankfully, Reddit picked up the story, and it got out that he needed help!
He speaks of feeling alone at first and making the video as a means to release the emotion. His gratitude shines through when you see the tweets he made about it below! Certainly, the worst day of his life turned out to be a day that showed how good people could be.
There really couldn’t be a nicer person to render aid to in their time of need. Republicattak is genuinely grateful for the support, and we look forward to seeing more of the cool projects he has created using the beloved plastic bricks of our childhoods!
Thankfully, all is well. In closing, the happy Youtuber stated, “Be careful…there are some [bad guys] out there.”
Perhaps the offender should be sentenced to run a mile upon a treadmill rigged with Legos as punishment. After all, we all know nothing hurts more.
