Mornings are always rough for us working humans. And theyโre not so easy for those working K9s either. Sometimes, the K9s need a little bit of motivation to get them going. And since they canโt drink coffee, they need something else to give them the energy to start their day.
Jango Fett is no different. This gorgeous and tough German Shephard with the Anne Arundel County Police Department in Maryland has no motivation one weekday morning.
His handler and dog dad Officer Ryan Costin scampers down the front steps of their home and crosses the green grassy front yard to the jet black SUV that hauls him around while Officer Costin is on duty.
Except on this particular workday, that just isnโt happening. Officer Costin texts his wife Cassie to let her know the shenanigans Jango Fett is up to.
She watches them leave for work from the front door of their home.
When Jango Fett throws a morning hissy fit and refuses to hop into the K9 SUV, she whips out her phone and begins recording.
Her hubby really needs to hit the road with his trusty partner in tow so they arenโt late. But Jango Fett could care less.
All he wants is for his police officer dad to give him a belly rub.
Cassie shared the saga that unfolds on her front lawn on Facebook where it went viral. People canโt stop cracking up over Jango Fettโs simple demand.
โI donโt typically make personal posts, however, when you think that you are having a rough morning or donโt want to go to work, watch this video to motivate you! According to the Costins, Jango is very active, very energetic, so to see him throw himself down on the grass and refuse to budge is surprising.
His toddler temper tantrum is just too darn funny.
โMy poor husband trying to go to work and Jango just lays flat on the ground.โ
You can see Officer Costin talking to Jango Fett, trying to convince him that it was time to go to work and he really needs to hop in the vehicle.
He motions toward the open SUV door, but the K9 just lays there.
Jango Fett moves once, then twice, but doesnโt get up. They chat, but Jango Fett isnโt going anywhere.
Please? Pretty please? Ahhhh nope.
Officer Costin rubs his forehead in frustration, then glances up at his wife who continues to laugh at the brave K9 dog. F
inally, Officer Costin caves in, bends down, and rubs Jango Fettโs belly.
He instantly flings up his hind leg. His handler talks to him a bit more then pats his tummy.
โWhatโs that? Positive reinforcement?โ
Cassie can be heard cracking up all throughout the video. Officer Costin pats Jango Fett one more time then finally, he hops up and springs into the vehicle.
Cassie comically hollers at her husbandโฆ
โSo all I need to get ready for work is a belly rub?โ
Officer Costin gives her two thumbs up then heads toward his SUV.
Itโs so sweet that a tough police officer like Officer Costins gives into his K9 partnerโs commands. Thatโs what partners do for each other, after all โ they help each other out. And sometimes, one partner just needs a little belly rub from the other.
