Josh Groban is just awesome. He’s so humble and awkward in a completely charming way. We love his whole story and his music even more so! He’s back on YouTube delivering a beautifu performance in a strange way.
Josh is singing Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah in his shower!
An odd place to sing for sure, but how many of us can say we haven’t sung in the shower before? Something about being totally alone and the acoustics of a shower just work for us for some reason!
I find it hard to believe Josh would be shy to sing infront of an audience (he’s done it literally hundreds of times)
but he might still find a little extra comfort in the shower! Especially for a song as close to his heart as Hallelujah!
This is actually his third performance in the shower, and he’s made a trend of doing these shower songs! His first two were Over the Rainbow and You’ll Never Walk Alone. Although, I think this is my favorite yet!
This song is so important to Josh because he is a Christian himself, with his parents being Episcopalians.
Joining him in the duet is Lucia Micarelli, a musician and vocalist who has joined Josh on stage throughout much of his career! They have a really clever system of splitting up Lucia plucking the violin, Josh singing, and Lucia singing across three different sections of the screen!
Beyond being a really great stylistic choice, this also really lets you focus in on one specific section of the song if that’s what you’re looking for!
It’s really cool to watch Lucia pluck the violin vs. Josh’s singing, analyzing how they hit the beats differently.
Josh is 39 now! Having started his career at the early age of 16 he’s had decades in the industry, where he has been widely respected for his beautiful singing voice! He had the privilege of singing alongside Celine Dion at the age of only eighteen!
Since then , the guy has gone multi-platinum more than a few times! He’s one of the most popular artists in the world and somehow
the fame hasn’t gone to his head!
He still maintains his humility and is one of the nice guys of the industry! He’s even gotten into acting over the years!
Josh mentions that Hallelujah is a famous song that has been covered more than a few times, but still, the original is my favourite. No one has delivery quite like Leonard Cohen!
Even if it was never one of the hits that you listened to often, you probably know it better than you think!
Afterall, it was a featured song in Shrek, and we all know how that movie has a penchant for making songs stick in your head…
They certainly make some funny faces during the video. Don’t get me wrong, I really love to see people absolutely feeling their music, and funny faces are a natural biproduct of putting your heart and soul into a piece of art. But they’re still really fun to see!
It’s especially hilarious to see Lucia go from an all but unexcited face playing the violin to
going full, passion-fueled stank face while she’s singing!
