Celebrity hubby, Jason Momoa, revives his wife’s car from when she was 17 years old
It was a good keep, being one of only three cars of that type ever made.

Jason Momoa might be one of the most famous actors of the 2000s, but he’s really just a normal family guy off camera. He has a wife, Lisa Bonet, who has also spent some time on our screens (you might remember her from NBC’s The Cosby Show). The pair also have two kids, Nakoa-Wolf Manakauapo Namakaeha Momoa and Lola Iolani Momoa.

The “Aquaman” star has been busy over the past few months of lockdown, which has bored celebrities out of their minds as much as it has us. His wife, Lisa, had a 1965 Ford Mustang stashed away that she’d bought when she was 17 years old. Though the car was past its best, it was special to Lisa and so she kept it with vague plans to restore it.

Jason knew how much the car meant to his wife, so he decided to drive it to custom automotive builder Divine 1 Customs, who transformed it into something even better than its former self, and Jason surprised her with the finished result.

When the car arrived at the garage, it was in a bad way. It had rust and peeling paint, and almost everything from its inside and outside needed to either be replaced or heavily restored.

But Lisa did the right thing to save it. Divine 1 Customs had looked up the car and discovered that it was one of three ever made. It had custom parts that were completely unique, making it that extra bit special.

After jet washing the exterior and interior of the car, the crew got to work. The body of the car was removed and everything was separately reworked. The interior was preserved and, where preservation wasn’t possible, replaced.

When Jason arrived to see the finished car, he let out a cheer and gave it a hug.

He later shared part of the video to Instagram, showing him sitting in his wife’s car, talking about his surprise at just how good the restored version looked. He captioned the video:

“Aloha everyone, this is 14 years in the making. I wanted to surprise my wife with her first car she ever bought and bring it back to life and into our family, Mahalo to @bigkemdizel for bringing me to @divine1customs to meet Misha, I could not have done this without the love and support they put into this project.”

It was finally time for the big reveal. Jason brought Lisa to her new car and instructed her to keep her eyes closed until he could see her face. Then he stood next to her car while she took her hands away from her face.

Lisa could only gasp in shock, then finally managed to say,

“Holy cow, that is gorgeous. Oh my God.”

As she sat behind the wheel, Jason exclaimed how cool she looked, and she laughed and said that the car was beautiful. The pair exchanged a kiss, before they both gave the car a test drive.

Jason and Lisa are the definition of couple goals. Having met in 2005 at a Jazz club, the pair were partners together for 10 years before marrying in October 2017. It’s clear that their love for one another is still as strong as it was when they first met.
