If you’re a fan of Britain’s Got Talent, then you’ve surely heard of Connie Talbot. But if the name doesn’t ring a bell, here’s a little background on the young English singer.
She made her first appearance on the popular talent show back in 2007 when she was just six years old. Considering it was her first time on the show, she already made quite the impression. Who would think her smile and talent would almost instantly win over the toughest, most difficult to please judge, Simon Cowell?
According to her family, Connie started singing as soon as she could talk.
When she was much younger, she would spend a lot of time with her grandmother, watching The Wizard of Oz constantly. It was the defining track of the classic film that got her singing. Her grandmother Violet knew, when she heard Connie singing “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”, that the little girl would prove to be quite the singer. Unfortunately, before Connie reached fame, her grandmother passed away.
Now, Connie has made a name for herself.
The international phenomenon has made countless appearances worldwide, garnered millions of views on YouTube, and even has a Gold, platinum/double platinum album under her belt.
When she was eleven years old, Connie collaborated with Grammy award-winning guitarist and producer Kipper Eldridge to put together a cover song for the young singer’s new album.
Connie chose to record her own version of “Imagine” by John Lennon, a song she considers one of her favorites.
The popular track speaks of imagining a more peaceful and happier world.
“Imagine all the people living life in peace,you may say I’m a dreamer
but I’m not the only one
I hope some day you’ll join us
and the world will be as one…”
Connie’s version is so powerful that it highlights the meaning of the song beautifully.

Everyone speaks of the seemingly dark and unfortunate year we’re currently in, and there’s really no denying that certain events are nothing short of catastrophic. But talented individuals like Connie Talbot remind us, through their craft, that hope is worth holding on to.
As she continues to share her talent with the world, many others (children, especially) are continuously inspired: to think positive, tap into their potential, hone their talent, and pursue their passion.
Despite her fame and influence, Connie remains down to earth. In fact, in this clip, you can see that the talented singer still gets nervous. She fidgets occasionally and giggles but like a true professional, composes herself the minute she hears the music play.
