No newborn can survive without its mother. This is true of any animal, no matter what the species. When this kitten refused to eat anything, her rescuers grew worried that she would not survive. Then a husky stepped in and took on the incredible role of mother.
Rosie is not your ordinary housecoat – she was raised by a big husky. She was rescued by three sisters who have been saving cats for their entire lives. They took her in when she was only two weeks old. The girls gave the kitten plenty of love and support, but something was still wrong.
This kitty missed her mom. She could not rest knowing that she was alone in the world. When she refused to drink her milk, her rescuers started to fear the worst. Then Lilo, a beautiful white husky, surprised everyone with a sweet act of kindness.
Lilo gave her free time to Rosie, snuggling her at any free opportunity. The big dog began to play the role of mother for the tiny kitten, nurturing her and smothering her with affection. Finally, with Lilo’s unconditional support, Rosie began to drink her milk for the first time.
This was the beginning of an unbreakable bond shared between the two. Lilo and Rosie went everywhere together, and it was not hard to tell that the animals each had deep love for one another. In addition to cuddling and mentoring the cat, the husky would clean her. He would lick her with his great big tongue, showing an incredible amount of gentleness and patience.
Over time Rosie grew large enough to fend for herself. The humans who rescued her prepared to look for an adoptive home for the cat. “Because we rescue kittens so often, we cannot keep them,” one of the sisters explained to The Dodo. “The rule is we nurse them back to health. We find them a good home.”
As they looked, however, something incredible happened. Lilo made it clear that she did not want to be separated from Rosie. The two had grown too close together to be pulled apart now. The girls made an exception to their own rule and adopted Rosie as their own. After all, they could not come between such a sincere friendship.
Now Rosie is part of the family. She loves hanging out with her husky friends, whether they are cuddling at home or kayaking across a lake. The cat even acts as a mentor to the other kittens the humans rescue. Rosie nurtures the kitties while they regain their health, then they are off to find their own adoptive families.
Rosie and Lilo certainly make an interesting pair. Their special relationship reminds us that any friendship can prosper with a little love.
