Stains… they’ve been the downfall of some of our favorite, and most expensive, outfits, pieces of furniture, and other items around your home. But that’s probably because you didn’t know the secret tricks to remove just about any stain in your home.
These stain removal hacks will cut your cleaning time in half and ensure that you never have to toss something out because of a stain ever again.
Eliminate Sweat Stains
Stop sweat from staining your shirt before it starts by placing a panty liner on the inside of your shirt in the armpit area.
Kitchen Knife Rust
Did you buy your knives from the dollar store that are now rusty from letting them dry in the dishwasher? Just soak them in some lemon juice and scrub the rust right off.
Hard Water Stains
You can use a rain repellant like Rain-X, typically used for your car, to repel water stains in your home. It’s the perfect solution for getting those hard water stains off of your glass shower door.
Cola for Blood and Grease
Coca-Cola isn’t just for drinking. You can add it to your laundry cycle to remove blood and grease stains.
Oil
Dump some baby powder over an oil stain and let it sit overnight before you throw it in the laundry. The baby power will soak all that oil up and prevent it from staining.
Buff Suede Shoes
You can get dirt and grime off your beautiful suede shoes by buffing the stain out with a nail file.
Mold and Mildew
Is your favorite shower curtain covered in mold or mildew? If it’s something that can’t be laundered you can spritz the stains in vodka and use a toothbrush to scrub it out.
Tennis Shoe Scuff
Are your white tennis shoes all scuffed up? You can get stubborn scuff marks out by rubbing them with a cloth soaked in nail polish remover.
Soap Scum
Instead of window cleaner, use cooking spray to get rid of soap scum and hard water stains.
Tupperware Stains
All of my plastic containers are stained from all the delicious vegetarian chili I make. That’s because I didn’t know that you should spray your containers with cooking spray to prevent Tupperware stains.
Stainless Steel
Use orange peels to shine up your stainless steel fixtures and to get rid of water stains. The citric acid removes the stain while the oils in the peel leave a streak-free shine.
Baking Sheet Stains
If you have caked on gunk on your baking sheets you can place 1/4 cup of baking soda into a bowl and mix in enough hydrogen peroxide to make a paste. Rub the paste all over your stain and let it sit for 45 minutes before scrubbing it away with steel wool.
Permanent Market
Scrubbing a permanent marker stain with toothpaste will remove the stain.
Crayon Off the Walls
Spritz some WD-40 on your walls where the kids drew on it with crayon and scrub to get the crayon off the walls.
Teeth Stains
You can whiten your teeth by placing an orange peel over your teeth. Do this every day before you brush and you’ll see results after a few weeks.
