Sometimes a song is so memorable that it doesn’t matter who sings it, you recognize it right away. Such is the case with “Crazy,” originally sung by Patsy Cline. So, when the musical group Home Free decided to do their rendition of the song, listeners knew right away what they were hearing.
Home Free
Music group Home Free got its start in Mankato, Minnesota in 2000. The original five founding members of the group were brothers Chris and Adam Rupp, Matt Atwood, Darren Scruggs, and Dan Lemke.
With some of its members still in their teens, the group sings acapella with a distinct country vibe.
Named after the boat of Atwood’s grandfather, the group started as a hobby for the five singers. By 2007, the group’s popularity had grown to the point that they began to pursue music full-time. Over the years, group members came and went, but still, their sound remains true to their roots.
‘Crazy’
Originally written by Willy Nelson, the song “Crazy” went on to become singer Patsy Cline’s greatest hits.
Known as a part of the Nashville Sound, the song tells the tale of the singer’s state of bemusement at their own helplessness when it came to the love for the object of their affection.
Patsy Cline
Nelson offered the song to Cline because it was felt at the time that the single was a “girl’s song.”
Even after she died in a plane crash in 1963, the song has remained as a reminder of Cline’s singing prowess and has endeared her to music lovers everywhere.
And while the song has been performed by a variety of artists ranging from LeAnn Rimes to Linda Ronstadt, and even Willy Nelson himself, it will always be best remembered for the version sung by Patsy Cline.
It is with this latest version of the song that it is shown how much it is loved by listeners everywhere.
