With most people put on home quarantine, there’s not a lot of opportunities to meet other people or go on dates. There’s not even enough opportunities to go out these days.

Being on quarantine didn’t stop one man from Brooklyn, New York to find a date.

Well, Jeremy Cohen wasn’t really looking for a date. When he was in his home in Bushwick, he noticed a girl dancing alone on the rooftop.

“I thought she was really cute from far away. During this quarantine, I think everyone is fiending for social interaction. I was like, ‘Oh my god, a girl. I haven’t seen one for so long.” -Jeremy shared.

Tori Cignarella was hanging out with her roommate that time. She was dancing to High School Musical’s We’re All in This Together” on the rooftop when Jeremy caught her attention. The next thing she knew, he was shouting over to her.

Jeremy waved at Tori from his balcony and she waved back.

As if that brief encounter wasn’t enough, Jeremy wrote his number on a piece of paper.

Then, he attached it to his drone. Carefully, he flew his gadget to where Tori was.

An hour after, he got a text from his lovely neighbor.

Their story didn’t end there. After their introduction, the unlikely couple actually managed to set up not just one but two dates.

The first time they dated was via FaceTime. On their own roofs, they managed to lay out a white tablecloth and ate matching organic microwavable dinners. It was an unusual way to date but it certainly worked. It gave them the opportunity to get to know each other better.

Their second date was their first in-person date.

For this, Jeremy coordinated with Tori’s roommate. Meeting her personally would be dangerous, considering the virus and the government’s guideline on social distancing.

As a solution, Jeremy dressed in an inflatable bubble.

The bubble allowed him to meet Tori personally without putting themselves in danger. The two weren’t able to get too far. They simply stayed within their neighborhood and walked around the area. They were stopped by police officers a couple of times.

However, instead of reprimanding and punishing them, the police officers actually asked for photos. Most of them recognized the two from the news and the internet.

The unlikely couple’s story is such an inspiration these days.

With most of the world being on quarantine, a story like this one brings hope. It inspires positivity and that feeling that we’ll get through quarantine and this pandemic.

Of course, Jeremy isn’t really telling people to break rules and risk their health and safety just to find a date. There are tons of ways to reconnect with your loved ones without risking yourself. Calling, texting, sending emails, and doing video calls are great ways to stay in touch with everyone in the family. And in this case, they are also great for getting to know other people.
