An unnamed good Samaritan has recently set up a free food giveaway in her local community. The anonymous Marylander continues to leave brown-bagged lunches from the hours of 11AM to 1:30 PM at an intersection in Severna Park.

Generally, the lunches can be found under a protective tent with a handful of positive signs. According to Good News Network, one of the signs reads, “For anyone who needs it … I will be leaving some healthy sack lunches on this table for you if you are hungry and need to eat. Made with love by a neighborhood mom in a clean and sanitized kitchen.”

Depending on the day, the signs can change. Here, one simply reads, “For anyone who needs it! Made with love by a neighborhood mom.” Another sign reads, “Free lunch” in all caps, while the last poster says, “On this table. Ever day. @ 11 AM.”

The setup can be found on Arundel Bch Rd and Severna Park.

Whoever’s behind this clearly wants to help amid a time of crisis, loving people and her community. Her free lunches have been so impactful that others have joined in and contributed their own food.

The lunch bags come with varying meals depending on the tastes of the receiver – sometimes turkey and cheese is featured.

Other times, the classic peanut butter and jelly is featured with enough sandwiches for an entire block.

Apparently, the table’s been sporting free lunches for weeks and weeks so far. A local mother of two, Kimberly Gussow, deeply appreciates the beautiful gesture, telling ABC News, “This makes me embrace my community even more. I’m proud to live here. It’s great to show our kids that there is good in our world. It’s not just about ourselves, it needs to be about others too.”

According to Good News Network, even Maryland state Delegate Nic Kipke took notice of the gesture, stating, “Things like this really lift my spirits! It’s great to see so many in our community doing so much to care for others during this stressful time.”

Everyday, people can be seen graciously picking up a brown bag.

Neighborhood local Joe rides by the table often with his son. Aside from being a wonderful gesture in general, he believes that the free lunches set a wonderful example for young kids and makes them more at ease during the pandemic.

In an interview with WMAR-2 News, another local, Keyana Mungai, says, “It’s really good. It’s just a really good thing, and it’s appreciated.” Simply put.

With the coronavirus bearing down on the world and especially the United States, more people and communities should look toward this kind, anonymous mother’s example. Those in a position of economic privilege, especially, or those who have had little affect from the ongoing pandemic should seek to better their likely struggling communities.

At this moment, millions of people around the world are temporarily out of work, making it difficult to put food on the table. Maybe this kind of gesture will have a positive ripple effect on its local Maryland community and beyond. The world needs it now more than ever.
