When it comes to Christmas, there’s only one rule: don’t be a grinch! The holidays are a time for joy and loved ones coming together. No one wants to deal with a grump during Christmas time. This dog might look like a Grumpy Gus, but he actually has a heart of gold.
Anuko is a Siberian husky who lives with his owner, Jasmine. Jasmine adopted Anuko when he was only five weeks old, and the two have been best friends ever since.
The loving owner is especially grateful to have her pup around the holidays. Seasonal depression can’t touch this girl when she is with her furry friend.
Jasmine originally got a dog because she had struggled with her mental health. When she heard that having a pet helped combat depression, she decided to try it out. She couldn’t have been happier with her newfound friendship.
“I got [Anuko] for emotional support,” Jasmine explained to the Daily Mail, “to give me a meaning to life and to encourage me to get out of bed in the morning.” The husky has definitely served his purpose. Not only is Jasmine able to greet every day with a smile, she even comes up with silly activities for them to do together.
Her most recent venture was a holiday photoshoot featuring Anuko. Jasmine went all out with a red and white scarf and a headband with deer antlers on it! It was an adorable idea, but the pup looked less than impressed. He seemingly scowled in every photo – but that’s just his face.
If you didn’t know Anuko, you might just think he’s a mean dog, but this is far from the case. He has actually always had this fierce expression, even though he is a total sweetheart.
“He’s kind and he’s never so much as growled at anybody,” Jasmine clarified. “[He’s] just a relaxed, lazy but cool type of dog who can’t be bothered for my shenanigans.”
Anuko might not be the best model, but he is a perfect match for his human. His love and affection have encouraged Jasmine to pull herself completely out of her depression and into a fulfilling life.
“When I got him I had no guidance in my life,” Jasmine remembered, “but now I’ve pulled myself together and I’m applying for veterinary school this year.”
It is incredible what an impact Anuko has made on Jasmine’s life. Their silly story is a reminder that all things flourish with love.
