Did you know that dogs form bonds with one another that are just as strong as the bonds that humans share? That’s what we learned recently when 17-year-old Caitlin Wyanne posted a photo of her dog Harry sleeping next to where his canine buddy George used to lay when he was still around.

The two would always stay curled up in the corner of the room together, George on his bed, and Harry just off to the side.

While Harry did have his own bed to use if he wanted, most of the time he preferred to be on the floor instead. It allowed him to be closer to his best friend.

Sadly, just over a year ago, George passed away.

The family was forced to put him to sleep after he was diagnosed with kidney failure. However, Caitlin noticed that to this day, Harry still sleeps in the exact same place — curled up in the corner next to George’s bed. He even leaves the bed open, just like he always did for his buddy in the past.

“I’m full on crying rn…he always let george sleep there and he died almost a year ago and he still lies there,” Wyanne wrote on Twitter.

Harry knows the bed doesn’t belong to him, and out of respect, he still refuses to lay there.

It’s painfully obvious how much he misses his old friend, and we don’t blame him one bit. Losing a best friend is never easy for anyone, including canines. Dogs are a naturally social species and love having a dog buddy or two to hang out with, especially when it’s another pup of the same breed. Both Harry and George are Lhasa Apsos.

Harry was even there to say goodbye to his friend during his final moments.

We can only imagine how emotional it must have been for the family.

“We took Harry to the vets with us when George was put to sleep and stayed next to him the whole time,” wrote Wyanne.

The two dogs had an incredible relationship.

“Almost a year on and he clearly still misses George! He sleeps on the floor to the side of the bed now quite often but I didn’t realise why until I was looking through photos of them both from a year ago and saw the photo I tweeted which made me realise.”

Despite so much time passing, Harry still hasn’t forgotten about how much fun he and George used to have together running around the house and taking naps.

It’s a pretty amazing image, and it turns out, other users on Twitter found the story just as emotional as we did.

One user even shared her own similar story about her pet dogs missing a departed friend.

It’s not always easy to tell what is on a dog’s mind, but if one thing is for sure, it’s that the pups have a lot going on in there. Not only do they feel powerful emotions, but they don’t forget easily. Once a dog makes a new friend, they remain loyal for life. As this story proves, sometimes long after.

While George will never get to see his buddy Harry in person again, we are sure that he will never forget the time they spent together.
