Pet dogs are such a bundle of joy to be with. For sure, our pets feel the same way about us too! Look how giddy and enthusiastic this Italian Greyhound, Shimmer, is whenever her brother is around.
Meet Shimmer.
Shimmer is an Italian Greyhound together who lives with her pup siblings, Sparkle and Speckle. They are collectively known as the Super Mice Girlz. Italian Greyhounds have been companion dogs since the Middle Ages, especially in Italy.
This stays true until now – they are family-oriented and love having company, may it be kids or fellow dogs. In fact, they can easily adapt to apartment life.
But they get easily sad when they are left alone.
Dogtime.com says of the breed:
“Since Italian Greyhounds are used to have the family around, they get sad, emotional, and sensitive when the peeps are out for work or school. They don’t do well when they are on their own for the whole day, so they get super excited and happy to see you back home! Make sure to shower them with hugs and kisses because they missed you a lot!”
Same thing goes in the morning.
Unlike us, our pet dogs don’t need an 8-hour sleep to get energized for the next day. If they feel like their energy batteries have been fully charged, they now wake up and try to wake you up as well!
Here’s Shimmer patiently waiting for her brother to wake up.
Shimmer whines, wishing her brother would hear her and wake up any moment now. He is still in deep slumber on the bunk bed while Shimmer’s up and about for the day. She wonders when will her brother wake up. Or she might think that he will be late for school!
When she realizes that her whining wasn’t enough, she tries to jump on the bed and sniff her brother’s hand.
She needs to make more effort to have her brother’s attention, so up she goes! She stood up and tried to jump for her to reach her brother. Good thing she can now reach his hand to sniff and lick it ’til he wakes up! But would that be enough?

“Momma, help me!”
Shimmer seems to be thinking, “Why is he not waking up? I sniffed, licked his hand, and whined to let him know I’m here, but he’s still in deep slumber.”
Shimmer then looks at her mother, who’s recording this video, with her puppy dog eyes to ask for help.
A few moments after, her mother tried to call her brother and said, “Come see Shimmer, it’s time to get up anyway.”
Shimmer whined some more and her sister joined her on the waiting game.
Yay! Brother’s finally awake!
When Shimmer saw her brother finally getting up, she enthusiastically and excitedly jumped over him to greet him a good morning. She sniffed all over his face, smothered him with kisses, and letting him know how much she missed him. Indeed, Shimmer’s one affectionate Iggy!
Her sister joined her too in greeting their brother to fully wake him up and send some energy that will last him the whole day.

They also welcomed their brother with kisses when he came home from school.
As soon as their brother arrives, the Spice Mice Girlz jumped and showered their brother with some smooches! It’s their way of telling their brother how much they missed him and they’re glad that he’s finally home. The Spice Mice Girlz didn’t even bother to wait until their brother took off his shoes! That’s how excited they were to see him!
Here’s proof!
Every single moment with her brother is really a good and memorable time for them. Look how tall those jumps are! Shimmer even sniffed her brother’s socks as if it’s a tasty treat!
For sure, this is the kind of greeting you want to be greeted every day, so check out the below video for some good vibes!
