Sometimes it is normal for a human to be scared of the rain. Of course, there is nothing harmful about it, but it can mess up our hair or clothing or just ends up being downright uncomfortable. It especially makes sense for a toddler to be afraid of the rain.

…But did you know that gorillas too, can be scared of the rain?

No one likes getting wet, especially these four adult western lowland gorillas at Riverbanks Zoo in Garden in Columbia, South Carolina. A video of the animals trying to avoid the downpour was taken and uploaded on the Internet, where it soon went viral.

What makes this clip especially hilarious though is the gorillas’ facial expressions as they try to escape the rain. As they all sit huddled in a group, looking absolutely miserable, each gorilla takes a turn and tries to pass through the rain while still remaining dry.

Two monkeys are seen holding their babies with care and caution. As they hold their babies with one hand, they grasp onto the wall with the other hand for support as they head out into the treacherous waters (we are being facetious, it was not actually a dangerous situation which is what makes it so funny!).

The two other monkeys scurried behind the leaders with much hesitation. The last monkey getting super frightened towards the end, which resulted in THE funniest facial expression. He looks as if he has been shocked, or as if he is risking his entire life!

One of the mother gorillas exhibited her absolute disdain for rain by flashing her teeth. They continue to leave the public viewing area slowly, one by one.

As the rain continues to pour down and the gorillas attempt to hop from one dry spot to the next, the zoo visitors realized that they had found the most entertaining zoo sight of the whole day.

Maybe it is unfair, seeing as the humans are inside and safe in the nice, dry indoor environment, but they continue to standby and watch the gorillas struggle with amusement. Of course, they are not actually in danger, so it is just funny! The visitors — families with small children — are seen in the back laughing the whole time.

“Gorillas don’t like getting caught in the rain either… Our keepers spotted the family troop as they were heading inside to avoid last Friday’s downpour,” the zoo wrote on Facebook.

Since then, the clip was viewed more than 7.5 million times. The zookeepers shared that they certainly understand why it went viral on the world wide web, as the gorillas hate for rain is just so relatable.
We think most humans here can agree… No one enjoys getting wet. Unless you are swimming in a pool on a 90-degree summer day of course!

The video was shared by mammal keeper, Brooke Hunsinger, who wrote: “Gorillas are magnificent, majestic creatures full of grace and beauty… except when it rains.”

Well ain’t that the truth!
