Horses are an animal that every kid, honestly every person, looks at in awe. Theyโre elegant, graceful, and you can do so many activities with them, including showjumping. In this video, we learn of 15-year-old Regina Mayer of Laufen, Germany, who wanted a horse, but her parents said no, so she taught an unlikely animal how to show-jump.

Meet Luna the family cow, which Regina trained to jump like a horse.
Desperate to be able to show-jump, Regina decided since she couldnโt own a horse, she would teach her cow how to behave like a horse. She spent two years training the cow on how to jump like a horse, and it paid off.

Although showjumping is traditionally apart of a group of English riding equestrian events, Regina knew she would be able to get her cow, Luna, up to those standards.

Regina says when she and Luna first started training, she was very well behaved and acted the way you expect a cow to act. Luna wasnโt comfortable at first with Regina riding her, so it took some time to get her warmed up.

The bond between Regina and Luna is strong, which is what makes this dynamic work.
Although Regina still wants a horse, she says Luna will always be her favorite. It is unbelievable to see a cow do such acts, especially when you know how stubborn cows can be. However, cows are very smart, and although it seems unbelievable, itโs definitely not impossible.

Even the neighbors had something to say, saying how at first, they thought it was weird, a girl riding a cow; now they realize it is pretty cool and fun.

Though you might think this is quite odd, Regina is not the only girl who wanted a horse but trained a cow instead.
A girl named Kaleigh Hamel has a video all about how to train your cow to ride like a show horse. She said when her cows were nine months old, she would sit on them just for a minute a week to get them used to the feeling.

She says you donโt want to ride them until they are about three years old, and this video is extremely helpful if youโre looking to train a cow! Obviously, it is more common than we think.

After hearing of these incidents of training cows to ride like horses, it makes you want to!
This video featuring Regina Mayer and Luna was posted on the Associated Press, a YouTube channel for a global news organization, hence why we were able to get this fantastic story from Germany. Obviously, this was newsworthy since itโs not something you hear of at all, really.

These girls arenโt the first to train cows to be like show horses, and they more than likely wonโt be the last. It is so magnificent to see an animal adapt and succeed at such an unlikely task.

Where are Regina and Luna now? Did she ever get that horse?
Yes, she finally did get that horse! Of course, Luna is still her favorite, and she is on her riding team to this day. If this video interested you, I definitely recommend checking her out on social media!
