They say a dog is a manโs best friend. Well, what about a teenage girl? This girl grew up on a farm with many different kinds of animals, but the identity of her bestie might surprise you.
Meet Savannah Burns, a 13 year old girl who lives with her family in Atlanta, Texas. She and her little brother have dozens of animals to play with and love, but one stands out in particular. Savannahโs pet of choice is her rooster, named Frog.
Frog is not your typical run-of-the-mill rooster. First of all, he has feathers on his feet. It was this unique characteristic that made him stand out when he first joined the Burns family. He also has a hard time walking, so much so that it earned him his name.
โHe didnโt walk โ he hopped,โ explained Holley, Savannahโs mom, to The Dodo. โMy son was like, โItโs hopping like a frog. We should name him Frog.โ โ
His strange movement wasnโt the only thing that made Frog unique. He was fascinated by his humans, and he wanted to spend as much time with them as possible. โHe was very attentive,โ Holley shared. โHe wasnโt interested in what the chickens were doing, he was interested in what the humans were doing. I donโt think he thinks heโs a rooster.โ
Frog loved the whole family, but he soon developed a special bond with Savannah. She took him everywhere with her, and the two grew closer every day. Frogโs favorite activity was helping Savannah with her chores.
โSheโd take him to the laundry room and heโd watch attentively. Sheโd go and wash dishes and sheโd set him up on the counter and heโd watch her wash the dishes,โ Holley recalled. Frog stayed by Savannahโs side no matter what she was doing โ reading, eating, watching T.V., or simply having a good time.
It didnโt take long before the two were virtually inseparable. The only time Frog and Savannah were apart was when the girl was in school. But even then, the rooster made it a point to see his bestie the very second she got home. What he does every day to greet her is just too adorable.
Whenever Frog hears the school bus pulling up, he runs out to meet Savannah and her little brother. He will even get on the school bus if he doesnโt see them! The bus driver is always sure to look out for this rambunctious rooster before pulling away.
This human-animal friendship is too cute. Frog may not know he is a rooster, but he is certain that Savannah is his best friend.
