Rodney the Boxer isn’t in the mood! When his mom left him in the car with someone that isn’t her, it was completely unacceptable. He didn’t expect to go on a car ride only to be stuck inside with someone that isn’t his mom.
Just one look at his face and you see how pouty he really is. That is one upset doggy!
His mom had to leave him in the car for a quick second while she ran up to a yard sale. Don’t worry, it was 50 degrees out and beautiful with a window cracked. Still, that didn’t change how mad Rodney was with his mom!
His eyebrows are crossed, face scrunched up with his lips in a full pout.
Even more, the car was running and the AC was on! When his mom came back, however, he was in the driver’s seat, totally avoiding eye contact with her. That’s the cold shoulder treatment if we’ve ever seen it!
“Rodney? Rodney. Scoot over. What’s the matter? Are you upset with me for leaving you in the car?”
Following his mom’s commands to move into the passenger seat, he still refuses to look her way. With his head forward and sitting up straight, he lets his attitude show! This is one emotional boxer.
Mom calls out his name several times, her tone getting sweeter with each “Rodney”. She then moves her camera in front of Rodney’s face, and what does he do? He looks elsewhere!
Uh-oh, mom. Better make it up to him.
Finally, Rodney shows us a chink in his armor. With a sideways glance, he looks at his mom for the first time in what seems like an eternity (to him at least). Once he sees his mom is looking though, he goes right back to staring straight ahead.
Rodney is just feeling a bit angsty. He is a boxer after all!
He is a well-bred Boxer, too! This handsome breed can be very energetic. They are playful and alert, originally bred as guard dogs but today, find themselves as family dogs, willing to protect their humans, and will meet threats without fear.
Part of the breeds draw, however, is their face. They can be really expressive with all that “droop”! Rodney really decided to use it to its full strength during that car ride back.
They’ve also been described as headstrong.
Well yes, look at this boy. That is one proud Boxer. Wonder how long he sulked and ignored his mom… But then again, knowing mom she may have just gotten him a treat and fed him extra back home. He looks well-loved!
With some further research, we see why Rodey was probably left in the car.
You see, Rodney has a short nose! Dogtime says:
“Boxers should not be left outdoors for extended periods of time. Their short nose doesn’t cool hot air efficiently in the summer, and their short coat doesn’t keep them warm in the winter.”
See? Come on, Rodney. Mom just did what was best for you. She did it out of concern. Out of love!
Plus, how many good boys get to ride in a nice BMW? Don’t worry, mom will take you some place nice to cool off. Who knows, it might even be better than some boring yard sale! Smile, Rodney! It’s a lovely day!
