And the award for “Worst Timing of an Inappropriate Comment” goes to Greg Gutfeld of Fox News.
Gutfeld, a panelist on Fox News’ The Five made a joke on Thursday implying that his co-host, Kimberly Guilfoyle, was making America “excited” with her dress.
And the timing couldn’t have been worse for Gutfeld, as the network had just announced the firing of Bill O’Reilly for sexual harassment earlier that day.
The segment started innocently enough.
The panel was discussing enforcement of immigration laws when Bob Beckel got his feathers ruffled over his comments not being taken for facts.
Guilfoyle teased Beckel, saying, “Waah, waah, crybaby. Call your camp counselor.”
Beckel quipped back, “Call your dressmaker.”
“And give him a raise,” Guilfolye remarked, showing off her well-made dress. “That’s what I’m saying. That’s what I’m saying.”
That’s when Gutfeld joked, “You are giving America a raise.”
Guilfolye laughed uncomfortably, replying, “Oh my god.”
The other female panelist, Dana Perino, didn’t look too happy about the remarks.
Here is video of the entire, awkward exchange:
