You donโ€™t want to get caught loitering at the Pump N Pantry in New Milford, Pennsylvania. This goes especially for ducks.

Four local ducks were caught busting their way out of their usual quarters in Cindy Osieckiโ€™s backyard creek and ended up waddling about a mile up the road to Pump N Pantry.

Some people werenโ€™t too happy about the ducksโ€™ arrival.

Many customers really enjoyed the ducks and were actually giving them a snack. Although we had some who felt very differently and felt that loitering laws should apply to even ducks too.

Eventually, the cops were called to handle the ducks loitering on the scene.

These ducks were really enjoying their newfound freedom.

An employee named Kat, who was just showing up for work that day when the ducks were enjoying their last moments of freedom, told The Dodo that they โ€œwerenโ€™t doing anything bad.โ€

In fact, things got pretty amusing when the quartet resisted arrest after officers arrived on the scene:

โ€œThey were being chased by one of the police officers. They were chasing them around the car. I thought it was pretty funny, to be honest,โ€ she said.

Although the ducks were loving their new freedom they decided to give the officers a break and take their punishment.

No ducks were injured during the arrest as they filed into the cop car with cooperation.

Although, they did decide to instigate a little more drama when they had a fleeting moment of wanting to stay and enjoy their new lives.

After the officer intervened, they finally agreed to go peacefully without a quack.

Cindy Osiecki said it was a 4th of July phone call sheโ€™ll never forget.

โ€œI thought it was funny, Iโ€™m like โ€˜are you serious?โ€™ There were like โ€˜yeah we took themโ€™ because I guess people were trying to take my ducks, and everyone was feeding them, even the cop fed them bread,โ€ she told WNEP News.

Apparently, the town is small enough that people knew who the ducks belonged to. Still, Osiecki was just surprised that they decided to wander so far:

โ€œโ€ฆthat was the first time that I ever saw they went up to the Pump and Pantry because normally they go to my neighbors,โ€ she said.

Then again, we all know things get wild on the 4th of July, and not every creature makes the best life choices, so maybe we can cut them a little slack.

Osiecki got the ducks back and they were swimming happily in their home pond the same day.

โ€œI was just so thankful they found my ducks and they took them in to be safe,โ€ she said.

And it must have been a really slow night for actual crime in Susquehanna County that day because the Great Bend Police Department joked that they even considered taking the ducksโ€™ โ€œfingerprints.โ€

These ducks are no joke around town.

Now that the ducks are local celebrities, it appears Osieckiโ€™s daughter Savannah thinks a lot more highly of them:

โ€œOur ducks are famous and theyโ€™re cool and theyโ€™re awesome,โ€ the girl told WNEP.

The police department got a few laughs after posting some photos of the ducks being arrested on Facebook.

In fact, their post has been shared over 700 times.

The puns in the comment section will definitely bring a smile to your face:

โ€œThese jail birds need a quack lawyer who speciawises in cases involving fowl playโ€ฆ and good work Officer Sheehan for quacking the case so quikwie. ๐Ÿ‘ Iโ€™m guessing AFLAC is behind this whole web of confusion. ๐Ÿค“โ€ said one man.

Weโ€™re happy the ducks made it home safe and are quacking on in the comfort of their own home again!
