Heroes donโt have to wear capes. Sometimes they wear safety vests and hardhats.
CCTV footage from the Czech Republic captured a surprising scene that you would never expect to see on TV. It all begins at 5โณ14 in the afternoon outside of a shop on a cool December afternoon. Shoppers and workers are going about their daily routines. No one could have expected anything crazy going on.
Then we see a red car arrive on the scene and meet the bad guys for our story.
The Crime in Action
Witnesses on the scene mentioned hearing shouting. The crooks in the red car must have decided that the white van would be an easy score. So they hopped out of their vehicle to try and steal tools lying around that they thought were unintended. But the vehicle wasnโt as empty as they thought.
The footage doesnโt show it, but a worker was seated in the driverโs seat of the van when he heard the thieves at work. He turned and yelled at them then rushed to save his tools from the greedy crooks. An altercation started that ended just as fast as it started.
The thieves, not wanting any trouble, hopped into their vehicle. As the angry workers shouted at them, the getaway driver turned the ignition and kicked the red car into full gear. With any luck, the failed robbery wouldnโt lead to an arrest as theyโd be long gone before police arrived. They pulled out, turned, and made for a fast exit.
But thatโs when the first hero arrived.
Not so Fast
The would-be robbers speed out hoping for a fast getaway only to be blocked by a brave forklift driver. You can imagine the robbers shouting for the driver to get out of their way as they try and squeeze past only for the driver to match them move for move.
They wouldnโt get away that easy. No matter what they said or did, there was no persuading the forklift or its driver to let them go.
While the criminals tried to wedge past the forklift driver, a second worker comes running into the scene. Without a second thought, he leapt into his forklift and got it started just as the red car attempted a U-turn to escape in the other direction.
But the getaway car didnโt make it very far, because the second forklift was in the right place at the right time. Their exit was blocked and it looked like there would be no escape for the band of never-do-wells.
Anything could have happened at that moment. The bad guys in the getaway vehicle could have gotten desperate and attempted to fight their way out. They might have hopped out of their vehicles and attempted a getaway on foot. But no one could have predicted what happened next.
Everyday Heroes
The moment lasted only seconds. You can just imagine the criminals shouting at each other trying to figure out what to do. They might have considered turning back around to try and get past the first driver or simply getting out and escaping by foot. But these band of heroes had another idea in mind.
A third forklift came zooming in from off-camera to help his fellow worker box in the crooks. The red-car remained still, maybe because they knew their crime spree was over. But the drivers wanted to be sure.
So the first driver joined his two companions to completely box in the getaway car. These three heroes, may as well be modern day musketeers, as they waited for security to arrive.
What Happened Next
The video cuts off before we see what the criminals did next. Police arrived a short time later to investigate and we can only hope that the robbers faced justice. But no matter what happened, everyone who got to see the action on the ground has stories to tell.
Everyone hears about civilians standing up and stopping crimes, but how many of us would actually do it. The forklift drivers took on a big risk to make sure that criminals paid the price for attempted robbery on that December afternoon.
With everything going on in the world, itโs always great to hear about ordinary folks taking the time out of their jobs to make the world a better place.
