In a video taken at an unnamed zoo, a lioness tries every trick in the book to gain the attention of a potential mate.
Although rejection hurts, most of us can take ‘no’ for an answer.
That’s not the case with this lioness, though. After being thwarted several times by an uninterested male lion, she hilariously changes up her game in an effort to get the best of him.
At the beginning of the video, the lion is enjoying an afternoon of sun-soaked solitude when he catches the eye of a stalking lioness.
Clearly, she had a different idea of afternoon-delight in mind, as she immediately decides to strut in a circle around the lion, letting him see her goods.
When that didn’t work, the determined gal took a different approach.
In case he had any doubts about what she was trying to accomplish here, the lioness stealthily slithers down in front of the lion, perking up her rear right in the lion’s face.
In a brutal rejection, the king of the jungle simply turns his head away from the prowling lioness.
Unwilling to give up on her chance at satisfaction, the lady-lion lurks toward the back of the unperturbed male.
She then slinks over the lion’s back and lays her rear up against his privates, hoping he’ll begin to pick up on the heat of her suggestions.
She digs her hind legs into his side, just for good measure.
We could all take a lesson from this determined lioness.
Even though all her attempts to gain the affections of this lazy lion have been shot down, she uses her sense of humor to conjure up solutions.
Instead of giving up and calling it a day, the frisky lady finds yet another way to provoke the lion out of his boring daze.
The undeterred lioness climbs up and sits right on top of her potential mate, not to be ignored.
Finally, after the poor guy’s third attempt at ignoring these womanly wiles, he gets irritated enough to nip at her and knock her off of him.
As it turns out, the plight of the jilted lioness is pretty common throughout the animal kingdom, especially amongst people.
After viewing the video on Facebook, quite a few users found themselves commiserating with the shunned lioness.
One commenter, Amy Malmström, pointed out that she could understand why the lioness was having a hard time leaving the stud alone.
True that! This lion is an eye-catching example of why this beast was named “King”.
One user pointed out that his hair game was so on point, the lion couldn’t be held accountable for not picking up what the hot and bothered lioness was dropping.
Some people even offered the horny old gal some helpful tips to get her mate’s attention.
Another Facebook commenter summed the entire matter up quite simply, in just a few short words.
Regardless of the lioness’s intentions, though, all her charming techniques seemed to have zero effect on her handsome mate.
After pouncing on him and trying to bring out his more playful side failed to yield any results, the rejected lioness laid on the ground beside the lion and tried nuzzling up next to him, hoping for some cuddles.
Unfortunately, the aloof lion was having none of it.
When the lady’s man had finally had his fill of feline adoration, he simply moved on.
While the lioness is standing right in front of him trying to get his interest, he simply walks right over the lioness, kicking her bum a bit as he brings his gigantic paws over her.
It’s a sad ending for this lioness’s attempt at an afternoon soiree, but at least she doesn’t hold a grudge like the pride of lionesses that attacked their male leader a couple of weeks ago at the West Midland’s Safari Park in Britain.
The video just goes to show that when humans and animals have playtime on the brain, we really are a lot more alike than we think.
