As much as we talk to dogs like they’re humans, we’ve always wished they could talk back to us. What exactly is running through their furry heads anyways? Well, there are brilliant dog owners out there that have taught their dogs how to speak using a unique system!
Introducing… Bunny!
Meet Bunny from Tacoma Washington, the genius sheepapoodle who can speak English! Yes, you read that right. Bunny’s mom Alexis Devine made a special communication pad for him that has 45 buttons.
A Pawfect Pup!
Each button has different English phrases that relate to Bunny’s life. Everything from “love you” to “skritches”, Bunny is able to stomp on these queues to communicate with his mom and dad.
Chatter Box
Devine was first inspired by Christina Hunger who is a speech-language pathologist. Hunger was one of the first people to create this interesting dog communication soundboard for her dog Stella, who has also gone viral for her intelligent speaking skills.
This amazing invention has helped both dogs and owners build an even stronger bond together. The board has also been a tool for scientists to conduct research on dog communication.
Dog Genius
Devine shared that she created her first soundboard for Bunny with the help of Hunger’s blog. Devine also added,
“We used that for several months before I connected with Leo Trottier, who is a cognitive scientist. He was looking for beta testers of a new device and that is the board we are currently using with Bunny.”
The stomp pad allows Bunny to press on buttons that speak to help her express happiness, contentment, and even pain! You really won’t want to miss how incredible Bunny the sheepapoodle is.
Brilliant Buttons
We all know what it looks like when our dogs need to go outside but how amazing would it be if they could speak to us about what they truly need? At just 11-months-old Bunny, was learning her soundboard and her first words were ‘”outside”. After consistent training Bunny has been able to use more direct locations like “beach” and “park”. Bunny might just be the coolest pup around!
Master Communicator
Bunny the genius has even been able to talk about his family’s pet cat Spooky, using a button that says “Play, Spooky”. Unfortunately, Spooky usually doesn’t want to play with energetic Bunny, but that’s okay! Bunny can express exactly when he wants to play with his loving owners too.
Bunny’s Mama!
Devine told the Good News Network,
“The sound board has been an overwhelmingly positive experience, Bunny and I work on engagement, tricks and obedience to strengthen our bond daily, but this has added so much laughter, joy and wonder to our lives.”
An Unbreakable Bond
Although it’s up for debate if Bunny actually knows what she’s pressing on to communicate, this unique soundboard is a step in the right direction. But, There’s no denying how adorable Bunny is when he’s speaking with his family. Maybe one day we can all have these special soundboards to help us communicate with our furry friends!
