Fathers are some of our greatest mentors and biggest fans in our lives. Dads teach us some of the most useful skills we take with us throughout life like how to ride a bike, drive a car, change a tire, use tools, painting a room and the list goes on and on. They pass on the wisdom they gained from their fathers and their own lives to their children so we can have all the important skills to get through life without them. Although with the steady reminder that they are only a phone call away. But there is that one bittersweet moment they must get through when we go to take our first flight from the nest they lovingly built for us.

One father had the first of many bittersweet moments captured on camera as he dropped off his son at college.
The final hug goodbye.
When the day finally came for Kenneth Mohammed to drop off his son Nasir at Georgia’s Valdosta State University it was an emotional goodbye for dad.
Time to spread those wings and fly!
As Nasir and his dad go to hug goodbye Kenneth starts to breakdown at the thought that is now the reality of letting his 18-year-old son finally spread his wings and take flight at college.
First steps going out into the world but not without some last final words from Dad!
As he says goodbye he gives his son some final last words in between his tears,
“Miss you son…been with me your whole life! Going out into the world, I love you. Hold your head son, I hope you make good decisions. Make good decisions…behave…we only a phone call away.”
Nasir stands there with an excited eager smile ready to begin his new life at college but patiently and intently listens to his father’s words.
Just one more hug before they separate!
Then they finally hug once more goodbye. Both father and son wrapping both arms around each other one last time.
Snot bubbles and all!
Kenneth writes an emotional post attaching the video for his Facebook friends and family to see writing,
“Nas has been with me pretty much his whole life…one of the hardest things I’ve had to do is drop him off to school. He’s never really been away from me. I ain’t gonna lie…I lost all composure…snot bubbles and all…and I’m not ashamed lol. I love him and I’m gonna miss him!!!”
Always just a phone call away.
Not many times do Fathers show their emotions but it is moments like these that we are reminded just how truly deeply they care about their loved ones. Even though at some point the kids must leave the nest they always make it known to share some advice for the next step in the journey and remind us that they are only a phone call away. Always there for whatever we need whenever we need it.
