Dogs may not be human, but they sure as heck act like they are! In fact, canine psychology expert Stanley Coren says that most dogs have a mind equivalent to that of a two-year-old child, which fully explains their never-ending energy, their constant need for attention and, of course, their desire to play. One dog, Rafi, shows that desire more than most others.
Stick any dog in the snow and they’ll do one of two things: either tiptoe to dry ground or chase snowflakes, frolic in the fluff and roll around. However, Rafi did something that we’ve never seen before: he went sledding! And no, not with an actual sled, but by using his own body as a sled.
This video captures a pitch black lab in the stark white snow running up the hill, lying on his side and then pushing off again…over and over and over. And all the while, Rafi’s owner–an actual child–can be heard belly laughing as he watches his pooch enjoy the snow.
And who wouldn’t be laughing if their dog did this? As Rafi bullets across the snow in a streak of black, he looks like a penguin or a seal. Rafi’s family doesn’t want the fun to end, and so they encourage their pooch to keep sledding. At more than one point in the footage, Rafi lies perfectly still and then pushes off with his legs to slide most of the way down the hill.
Labs are some of the best family dogs in the world, and as a result, they are some of the most popular. Chances are that you knew someone growing up who owned a lab…and you were jealous. Well, I was at least. While my parents always picked up the strangest looking dog from the pound (which isn’t a bad thing, but that’s what they did), other friends had golden retrievers and labs to show off in the neighborhood. There’s just something about those purebred balls of fur that is just so loveable, and I think Rafi finally helped me figure out what that something is: they’re fun-loving kid-like personality.
