Dutchess is a 14-year-old fox terrier who disappeared from her home in Boca Raton, Florida, in 2007. Her owner did everything she could to try to find her, searching and putting up fliers.
She had no choice but go on with life, she never forgets her beloved puppy. She also never imagined her dog would be found over a thousand miles away, in Pennsylvania.
In 2007, Dutchess went missing. Now, 12 years later, someone found her under a shed and over 1,000 miles away from home!
Dutchess, at the time, was just a 2-year-old puppy who wandered away from home and never found her way back. Her owner never forgot about her puppy but had to go on with life. Until out of the blue, she got a call that stopped her in her tracks.
It was the Humane Aminal Rescue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The lost dog was found hungry and shivering, under a shed in Carnegie, Pennsylvania. She was then brought to the Humane Society where they checked her for a chip, three days later, hse was reunited with her owner!
After driving over 18 hours, she cries as sheโs reunited with her pet, she canโt believe itโs even happening.
Dutchesโs owner, Kathryn Strang, was in shock when the unexpected call came in. She never thought she would see her pet again, tears of joy flooded her eyes as she held Dutchess for the first time in 12 years. Thanks to the chip she had implanted in Dutchess, they were able to easy reunite them!
The dog that sat on her lap was no longer a puppy, but a 14-year-old dog. She had no idea how the poor thing got all the way to Pennsylvania, or how she survived for all these years.
โI canโt believe youโre calling me right now, I canโt believe this is happening.โ Said, Kathryn.
The owner was ecstatic to have her pet back, she could hardly contain her emotions as they reunited.
Kathryn Strang was visibly emotional as she reunited with her long lost dog, Dutchess. 12 years ago, Kathrynโs son left a door open and they never saw Dutchess again, until now. She couldnโt control her emotions, crying as she talked to CBS News.
โIโm just so happy to have her back, Iโve cried so many times. I was at work and my son was 12-years-old, he opened the door in the afternoon, after school one day, and I never saw her again.โ Kathryn told CBS News.
