Sometimes, dogs are too pure for this world.
Some people don’t deserve their unconditional trust and affection. Even if a dog is mistreated by their owner, the dog will still shower people with love anyway.
That is the case with this story below.
Despite this dog getting mistreated, he still trusted and adored people. This is something Carlos Carrillo got to see for his own eyes.
Carlos Carrillo is a plumber with Shoreline Plumbing. One Friday in May, he and his colleague were called for a job in Robstown, Texas – but little did they know they were also going to complete another job entirely.
While driving out, the two men noticed something strange in a ditch off to the side of the country road they were driving on.
The two weren’t sure who or what they had seen. They could have left it at that, considering they were already en route to their assigned job, but thankfully they decided to let curiosity get the better of them.
When they pulled over and got a closer look, they couldn’t believe their eyes.
The two men discovered a dog tied up with tubing and his mouth duct-taped shut. The heartless person who abandoned the dog left him to die.
“We didn’t know he was a dog at first,” Carlos told The Dodo. “We reversed and saw him.”
The idea of this egregious act makes me sick. Look at that face – how could someone do that to this gentle animal?
Some horrible person intended to leave this sweet dog to die, but Carlos and his colleague weren’t going to let that happen.
Carlos rescued the dog by cutting him free and taking him to a nearby animal shelter.
“He seemed OK,” Carlos said. “He was very loving and liked the attention. He was probably just there for a day or so.”
After the brave rescue, the two plumbers took the dog into their vehicle and drove towards a nearby no-kill shelter named Peewee’s Pet Adoption.
Despite the dog’s horrible treatment, he had nothing but love and gratitude for his rescuers.
“Look at that face,” said Carlos. “He knows he was saved!”
Upon admission to the shelter, the dog was examined and found to have no serious injuries. It was revealed he had heartworms, which will need ongoing treatment, but in general, this strong pup was okay.
“His tail won’t stop wagging,” a spokesperson at the shelter told The Dodo. “He’s such a sweetheart.”
Thank goodness Carlos and his colleague got there just in time. While the person who committed this atrocity may never be found or brought to justice, at least this sweet dog has a new lease on life.
