This handsome pooch came to the shelter with a bad skin condition that wrecked his fur.

Over the four years he’s been with the shelter he’s had the TLC that his coat needed, and he’s made a huge recovery. The veterinarians who work with Soi Dog say he will start to grow new hair soon. It’s great to see the work they’ve done to help this handsome dog make a pretty picture.

He’s one of the lucky ones, as most pet adoptions sway towards new puppies instead of older dogs.

This energetic dog is ten years old, so the chance of his adoption was slim to none.

According to Pet Central, there are some advantages to adopting an older pet. You’ll know more about your dog’s background including energy level and how they get along with others. Also, older pets tend to need less training.

Soi Dog not only treats sick animals and give them a better life, but they also have a community education program designed to teach compassion for animals to schoolchildren.

“At Soi Dog Foundation, we believe that people’s attitudes towards animals are formed at an early age. If more people grow up with empathetic attitudes to dogs and cats, there will be fewer cases of cruelty and neglect.”

According to The Humane Society of the United States, adopting is the best way to find a pet.

They suggest doing some homework before looking for a new addition to your family. Asking questions of your situation such as; what kind of pet will fit your lifestyle, and how much time do you have to devote daily to a pet?

“Doing your homework in advance will make your search easier and increase the chances that your new pet will be a happy addition to the family.”
