Video Shows Dog Begging For Owner To Not Abandon Him - Dog Finds His Fairy-Tale Ending

January 14th, 2019

It’s important to stay as compassionate as possible towards people, but when humans abandon or otherwise harm and reject loving animals, it’s hard to maintain your faith in humanity.

Now granted, dogs are a big responsibility. Owners can’t always know how it will work out or if pets will fit into their homes, but there are certainly better ways to deal with a bad fit than abandoning a dog on the side of the road days before Christmas, which is exactly what happened to this adorable little guy named Snoop.

Snoop, a Staffordshire terrier, was discovered by a driver on a cold night in England huddled alone on his bed on the side of the road.

The good news is that the fine person passing by picked up the pup and brought him to a nearby vet. Later he was transferred to the RSPCA (who gave him the name in honor of the rapper Snoop Dogg).

The sad news is that when officials checked surveillance cameras near where the dog was discovered, they found some heartbreaking video of him being abandoned by his owner, despite begging to go home.

The video begins with Snoop’s original owner getting out of his car with the dog and his bed and walking across the road to leave him there. Of course, the pup knew something was wrong and, being an ever-loyal companion, ran back to his owner. Here’s Snoop racing across the street to go home.

But, sadly, the owner gets into the car as Snoop jumps up and peers into the window, hoping to get back in. But no such luck. This man had only one goal – to leave his dog on the side of the road on a frigidly cold night.

After viewing the footage, RSPCA inspector Natalie Perehovsky said what we are all thinking:

“The footage has to be seen to be believed, it’s just awful. To see the poor dog in such obvious distress jumping up at the car as it drives away is just heartbreaking. I can’t understand how someone could do this.”

That’s not the end of the devastating video, however. Snoop’ss dad drives away, leaving the pup chasing the car. It’s hard not to sympathize with the pup at this point, but very hard to find sympathy for his abandoner.

Since the good Samaritan found the dog in his bed on the side of the road, it’s clear that Snoop eventually gave up and returned to his bed to curl up and find some warmth.

Luckily, this story has a happy ending for the loving pup. Snoop has now been transferring to a private kennel where he is getting all the love and attention he so richly deserves. He looks like a healthy, happy, and friendly little guy.

RSPCA media manager Rachel Butler told The Dodo that the rescue organization estimates Snoop to be about 2 years old. She said his personality leaves her at a complete loss to explain his abandonment. Here she is snuggling the pup below.

Butler says that now the Snoop’s story has gone viral, hundreds of people all over the world have inquired about adopting the dog and giving him a loving forever home.

In even happier news, rap mogul Snoop Dogg himself has offered to take in the pup and give him a glam live after seeing the heartbreaking video.

“There is always room for another dog in Casa de Snoop,” he told The Daily Star.

But according to People Magazine, Snoop is settled in the private kennel for now while the abandonment investigation continues.

“At the moment he isn’t up for rehoming while our investigation into his abandonment is ongoing,” Butler explained.

Even though Snoop Dogg has offered to take the pup, he’s realistic about the situation:

“If he really needed a home then he has one with us. But I don’t think there is going to be any shortage of loving homes after all the exposure he has got.”

Nonetheless, a Care2 website petition is approaching its goal of 50,000 signatures hoping to compel the RSPCA to let the rapper take the dog.

It remains to be seen where Snoop will end up, but the important thing is that he’s safe and happy now and is destined to have a great life with a loving family in the near future.
